I just got this email from a friend, and it does not sound like a hoax.

<hr class="ev_code_hr" />

Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on.
This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and
Norton Please send it to everybody you know who has Access to the
Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail title 'Mail Server
Report' If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen
saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful...'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who
sent it to you will gain access to your Name, e-mail and password.
This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.
AOLhas already
confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable
of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them
to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES.

I know youre trying to do a good thing...but you really should have read the snopes link carefully. This IS a hoax, built upon an old virus alert from 3 years ago.

Ah yes, the last sentence says it all. But yes you are right, I was only trying to do a good thing. I've got to take care of my peeps http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

By the way, Snopes is not the ultimate authority on anything. Do some research if you are really interested. It is not some highly funded research institute but a couple working from their home. I would rate them just above Wikipedia as an authoritative reference.

"Forward this to everybody in your address book" is the kind of thing every virus writer loves to read. I ignore ALL such messages and rely upon my security software, firewalling and prudent internet usage to keep myself as safe as possible. I'm no expert, but you don't have to be one to have a reasonable chance of being safe on the internet. Unfortunately, it is very easy to sell someone a computer but much more difficult to get people to use them safely. Just like with cars, any clown can get their hands on one.

I see them every day, minus the grease paint of course. If they were required to wear that, along with the big red nose and funny colored hair, then we would all be safer. It would give traffic enforcement a leg up on exactly who is trying to drive with those big shoes. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Didn't they have hand cranked modems back then ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The hand cranks were for the phones....Modems were run off dynamos hooked up to water wheels....which explains the almost universal ignorance of their existence in "early times".. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Tud, you have a good sense of humour. Not many folks are receptive to others having fun with their gaffes. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks K61. If you can't laugh at yourself, something's wrong with you. I almost deleted this thread, but found hope it could turn into something fun. I'm all for giving someone a smile.

Hey Tuddley3, better to be safe rather than very sorry!
It's like an umbrella, really.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
Or a wrench, a spare tire, lunch, good credit, and so on, and on....
and, I never knew:

So, from where I sit, this alone, was valuable information!
Who's snoping on snopes?
I think we need an investigation! Federal funding! Bailout!
LOL

If God didn't give us humans a sense of humour, we'd all go to early graves over the various krapola that happens in life. If a person can't laugh at themselves now and then, then their ego is too large. I sometimes call myself names when I do something stupid. Once I walked into a door at the mall I had just opened for myself. That was stupid and I insulted myself. Some lady asks me who I am cussing out and I told her myself.

My parents are from the East Coast of Canada. Here we tell Newfie jokes; my mother was one of the biggest Newfie joke tellers of all time. Most Newfs let it slide off their back like water off a duck. I think that's why even though they may not be the wealthiest people in Canada, they seem to be the happiest and most content.

Live, love and laugh.

lol, I just saw that commercial for the first time a couple days ago on some site. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
Actually saw them in concert at a club in Texas back in 95 or so. But...if youre going to make a commercial threatening a bird...Ozzy is the only one to turn to for that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
