I won;t recommend a brand becuase that boils down to anecdotes and opinions mostly

But you would want something that has a dedicated throttle, referred to as a "HOTAS" setup:

Hands
On
Throttle
And
Stick

Rudder pedals are definitely recommended. Saitek makes some, as does CH products. Some members have made their own from an old joystick!

If you're in the USA, it'll take about $275-$300 for a HOTAS system with rudder pedals no matter which of the two most common brands you go with, Saitek X52/Saitek Pedals ($120/$149 respectively), or CH Products Fighterstick(or Combatstick)/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals (approx. $100 each, if you shop around).

I'd recommend CH, because their stuff lasts, and the company really has a rep for standing behind their gear. I've had my CH Combatstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals for over 4 years now, with nary a glitch, and I average about 10-15 hours of use a week.

I recommend that you go to this site (http://saitekusa.stores.yahoo.net/recprod.html) if you are in the U.S. and get a reconditioned X-52 for $70... it is a good stick to start with and there is more than enough room to grow. As for the pedals.. basically there are two choices.... either CH (http://www.provantage.com/ch%7E110CHPU.htm) or Saitek (http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/proflight.htm). I have both... I prefer the Saiteks.. but due to the price and thew quality the CHs aren't bad either. IMO the Saiteks are smoother and they offer a wider stance.... CH makes great products... but IMO they are not the best bang for the buck.

Who knows the best way to obtain simped pedals still? The simped website seem broken.
