After a recent thread about the Flightseat setup I got in touch (http://www.playseats.com/) with them by email. Although the flightseat hasn't, er, launched yet, I was most interested in seeing if I could buy just a seat. I'm planning a new 'pit', and the advertised FS layout wouldn't suit a one-armed bloke anyway.

I suppose I didn't really expect a reply to my "one-armed pilot seeks cockpit seat" request - and indeed there was nothing for a fortnight - but then I had a post fron a gent named Steve Pettefer, offering me a demo model at a knock-down price http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I accepted of course, got on the phone to this very nice office and the gentleman I mentioned - and I should receive it by Thursday! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I'm also getting all the tubing too anyway, gratis - and I reckon a little judicious bending should put my fighterstick right in my lap where it goes now.

I'm just posting to celebrate my good fortune and to put in a plug for and a BIG thank you to an obviously caring firm. If their Customer Support is only half as good as the sales-folk it will still be better than most. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Now where did I put that gas torch? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I will be logging my progress for sure! I put a fresh hamster in the treadmill already and my AA rechargeables should be ready to fire up the camera by Thursday http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif How green is that?!!

I'm in the "wonder if the CH pedals will fit?" and "where can I get one of those hospital-bed-type tables to mount the monitor on?" space right now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

Oh, and I have to go into hospital for a surgical procedure, tomorrow p.m. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
At least I have something to look forward to! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Worfster - I dunno how to get you a cheaper setup, though I would surely have tried my skill with some thinwall steel, a torch & benders, and a spot-welder before it all became a bit tricky.

Back in the day, I would've slipped on my shades and carried my guitar & mouth-harp down into the subway, and played the blues. No kidding - a good rainy-day living for a musical bricklayer in London - I made the equivalent of $100 on a good day. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
