Maybe it's just me, but there is something so very human about this. The guy just wanted to nip out for a cig while working late on Friday night. Instead got stuck in the elevator without a watch for the whole weekend.

See a timelapse film of every single human emotion:

Poor bugger!

Do you think he just went straight back to work like at the end of After Hours? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Quite a poignant little film...

I`d give the guy a medal. I thought it was fake at first, but now I`m pretty certain it`s real. To unexpectedly get trapped in a lift with no way out for 40 hours without going insane at the end takes some balls. That`s nearly TWO full days and nights!

Fate can be cruel. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

But it does show what a standard Human Being can endure (and overcome) if he has to.

That little sign in the door at the end somehow seems insufficient.

Wow, poor guy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I say he deserves a paid vacation.

he must of had a strong bladder, i didnt see any puddles.

maybe he whizzed against that wall outside the door and they edited it.

I googled this guy and it's definitely real. He went for a smoke break and got stuck for 40 hours. He had no water and only rolaids to eat. His coworkers thought he had skipped out and actually left a nasty letter on his desk stating all the problems they had getting things done for the rest of the day. He had the emergency buzzer on most of the time (had to turn it off occasionally to keep his sanity). He had to pee by opening the doors and leaking down the elevator shaft. He had hoped that they would wonder why the elevator was leaking and check on it. On the cameras you can see maintanance workers repairing other problems (not sure if this is on the four screens on the vid) and no one bothered to check either the video feed or to wonder why car number 30 wasn't working. He thought he was going to die of dehydration before they got him out.

Yea, you do see a tech on another camera doing some work. Hard to believe no one figured something was wrong. It was depressing seeing him trying to get out and just seeing a blank concrete wall when he finally got the doors open. I saw where he took a slash down the lift doors.

Imho he dealt with the whole thing quite well.

security cameras, but no security guards working weekends?

0n a relevant, but slightly lighter note. Perhaps this might explain what the security guard was doing...

Guy looked like a fly trapped in a jar.

I wonder how much sleep he was able to actually get in there. Me personally, I would have tried to sleep as much as possible. That is THE best way to pass time like that quickly...but then again, I can't sleep well to begin with.
I would have written a strongly worded letter to those in charge of that building once I got out of there, that's for sure.

Yes,
I think he was wise to pee in the gap in front of the doors, it would be even less bearable being stuck in there if the floor got wet.

I was stuck in an elevator for a couple hours---not 40---and it was HELL. I am amazed he kept his cool as well as he did.

I was stuck in an elevator with a colleague once. I can't say it wasn't fun. She was a gorgeous blond Aussie with a very humorous personality. It was an hour and a half of laughs. When the building crew finally got the doors open, they were shocked to see two happy people laughing like fools. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But I felt a lot of sympathy for the poor guy in the video. Man, that must have been tough.

after geting stuck twice on elevators, and having a dad whose remedy to get over it was to toss you into one, and scream "you are going to die!!!" while the doors close (or IF he rode with me he would say the same line, but pull the emergency stop button..) leaves an impression on a 12 year old.

glad i am over that fear today http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif but if that happened to ME..(by myself) talk about a completely psychotic meltdown. i can guarantee the elevator would have been completely %UCKED, and mangled by my bare hands , trying to get out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

poor guy. he handled it well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

YIKES!

please tell me this is a horrible parody of the first one! i HOPE it is fake, but probably its not. i never did understand why CCTV doesnt include a microphone for just such purposes on elevators.

the guards/maint people on that shift should be fired. who ever is supposed to monitor the CCTV.
