Of course, his most famous quote which is often taken out of context, including the time he said this to Goering.

Galland states, in his book "The First and the Last" that "After I had blurted this out, I received rather a shock. It was not really meant that way. Of course fundamentally I preferred our ME-109 to the Spitfire. But I was unbelievably vexed at the lack of understanding and the stubbornness with which the command gave us orders we could not execute - or only incompletely - as a result of many shortcomings for which we were not to blame."

I have seen him first hand explaining that is was because the Spit was better in a turnfight/dogfight and since he had to stay close to the bombers this is what he would be doing. He preffered the Me109E for B&Z (big cannons) but would no longer be able to use this advantage

So this is why he asked for Spitfires. (Of course it was also to vex Goering after telling him to fly close to the bombers but it was a bit of both)

He wouldn't have asked for the Spits if he had flown the 109 in this sim! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
