Well, my friends and I are are looking for a good MP Co-Op flight sim with an MP dynamic campaign. But as there are like 3 Maddox games around, which one is the one that will fit our needs the best. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you need them all. 99% of the online gaming is the merged triple installation. I don't think there's any coop going on with only Pacific Fighters standalone.
Good luck finding them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

HMV I think has them all. Otherwise ebay.

If you don't want to play with others, but only with your friends any would be fine. However, you lose so much content if you don't have them all ... blah blah blah.

So your saying get the IL2 'trilogy' and not PF? Just to clarify.

Depends on what you want . If your only intrested in the Pacific theater then PF will suffice. IF you want more variety and the ability to switch back and forth between PF and Europen fronts then all 3 is the only way to do so.

If your in the US, AEP can be found at EB Games for about $4.99, Pacific Fighters is sill on shelves, I got mine at Wal-MArt for 19.99, IL2FB is more of a challenge. I ended up getting mine from a game download site (legit) it was 19.99 also. There is a gold pack out there but very hard to find. Good luck and keep hunting as it is worth it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No no no. IL-2 is the game that started it all, but is not compatible with the rest.

What I recommend is Forgotten Battles, Aces Expansion, Pacific Fighters.

If you want you can buy only FB or only FB+AEP or only PF, but then you lose a lot and cannot play in the online servers. Not that you won't have fun with your friends http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif of course.

To sum up 99% have FB/AEP/PF, while the old IL-2 isn't compatible and only PF doesn't have enough people online.

They are all on budget now, you should be able to get all 3 for around 29.99. (10 each)

It really is a bargain for such a game.

Dont mix up AEP with any other expansion packs.

Its the Aces Expansion Pack that you need. Listen to Neural Dream. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Several places are taking pre orders for the "IL2 Air Combat Collection" FB+AEP+PF

It looks like the much rumored platinum dvd.

Amazon is a good bet for FB+AEP+PF. I just got PF today, from Amazon, and am waiting for AEP (which I already have but want a backup copy). You should buy all 3, you wont be disappointed. And remember, DO NOT confuse Ace Expansion Pack with any other title.

Right, I think I get it now. Fotgotten Battles is a standalone expansion for IL2, and the most played version, the Aces expansion pack is an expansion for this.

PF is another standalone game based on the same engine focusing on the Pacific.

Buying all three I would be covering all my bases, right?

Do they all have the dynamic MP campaign? How does this work?

FB is not an expansion of anything, it is a seperate game, merely from the same creators.

Yes you will have dynamic campaigns for multiplayer.

Just to clarify.
You need Forgotten Battles+AEP+PF.

Forget about IL2 it was the original game and is NOT compatible with these three subsequent publications.

You can get FB+AEP as a "gold pack" right now on Amazon and a few other sites.
PF is current and can be got most places on and offline.
There is however, a "platinum" pack just about to be launched, get it from UBI site or many other online game stores. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you buy standalone Forgotten Battles plus the Aces Expansion Pack (both of these can sometimes be found merged into one pack the Aces Expansion Gold Pack)then you will get Eastern Europe plus a couple of other theatre maps. There will be one or two Pacific aircraft I think. You won't be able to fly online easily. Here is why.
Most people have the above games PLUS Pacific Fighters. If you have all three you can COMBINE them on your computer (called the "merged install" in these parts) and get one huge game. Virtually everyone on-line runs this merged installation.
There is also talk of an upcoming platinum set which will include all of them plus the numerous excellent FREE patches.

Thanks guys, your help is really appreciated. I'm sure I'll be flying with you all in no time. How do you find the MP campaigns? How do they work?

1. Skip "IL-2 Sturmovik."

2. Get: "IL-2: Forgotten Battles" and "Ace Expansion Pack" (separately or sold bundled together as "IL-2 Gold Pack").

3. Get: "Pacific Fighters."

4. Install FB, AEP and PF in that order. Finish with upgrade patches 3.03m, 4.01m and 4.02m ... plus whatever additional patches come out after 4.02m.

~or~

Wait until Feb. 16 to see if the "IL-2 Air Combat Collection" pack on DVD-ROM is released. This will have all of the above on one DVD-ROM and possibly an anticipated patch that has yet to be released.
