You can always count on a trained journalist to check his facts-"escort bomber" indeed!

However, as long as the basic frame is relatively intact, in 10 years or so we could have the thing flying overhead at your neighborhood air show...

I think that's a very popular misconception in regards to our beloved Thunderbolts. that they were mearly -"escort bombers." what a Bunch of BS. Maybe this same misconception is the reason for the flight model we have in FB?
