Just dusted off my VCR copy of this film & found it to be better in somw ways than I had remembered esp the Japanese segments...maybe its just with the eminent release of " Pacific Fighters " but may I be so bold to suggest to those who saw it quite a while ago or who being younger members of the FB/PF fraternity ,check it out....

An excellent movie IMO, and what's more generally historically accurate much better than that "Pearl Harbour" **** film. Ivan are you sure you didn't mix the two up. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Remember fellas, "Tora Tora Tora"
3 hours, two seperate film crews (Japanese and American) starts out with Yamamoto coming aboard his flagship, ends with his quote about "waking a sleeping giant"

"Pearl Harbour" silly love triangle (ok so Kate Beckinsdale is a babe) with cool special effects in the background, and numerous historical mistakes/omissions/simplifications.

Watch "Tora Tora Tora", throw "Pearl Harbour" in the garbage.

Ya great flick. Believe it or not I heard that there was actually 3 directors working on it as the origonal Japanese director almost had a nervous breakdown on it and had to be replaced.

The flight scenes weren't that great imo. The ground scenes were though. Omg when the p-40 blows up while trying to take off! Amazing footage.

Some good acting in it too imo.

To me... and of course to me only,

TTT is one of the greatest movies ever. When they showed it on TV in Brazil, I was very young... and I had to beg my mom to let me watch it because they showed it as a Friday special, meaning it was after my bed time. I think it was in 1974 or 1975.

I don't think that at the time I realized what was going on in the movie, outside of being a war movie, but I enjoyed it throughly.

I do own both TTT (Tora! Tora! Tora! - one of the best WW2 movies ever) and PH (Pearl Harbor - one of the worst WW2 movies ever) on DVD.

TTT is a must have.

Yes, TTT is a must have, My favorite parts are:

1. the one when the riders, Araghorn among them, were riding to meet the Wargs, the blurred vision of men and horses, above them the Green flag of Rohan and the music... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

2. the Charge of the Rohirrim down the slope at dawn. 'nuf said http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

And... Wait, you are talking about The Two Towers, right?

Tora! Tora! Tora! is an excellent movie; you can even learn some history from it. The japanese sections are especially marvellous and even "Freedom fries" parts were unbelievably correct. Nothing like you could expect in these propagandic days. (No wonder that "Pearl Harbor" coupled with with Doolittle's raid was a must to do to get things straight in common peoples minds.)

And Jerry Goldsmith was incredible again. I can watch the movie just to hear the soundtrack.
