After thinking about VW-Icefires Tempest HECK YES slogan I decided to give one a try but guess what, I couldn't find one. Maybe its got other nomenclature or something. Is there help?

what do you mean couldn't find it?

it's just called TempestMkV in the aircraft list... if you tried online it might not have been available for the mission.

No kidding, I looked and it wasn't there. Maybe I messed up somehow. My files that is.

I looked for skins and it looks as though it's a Hawker aircraft. So it's probably listed as HawkerTempestmkv or something.

Maybe a stupid remark, but you do have latest patches in the right order, don't you?

Its because you have to pay for it.

No really, is 100% sure because the patches have been wrongly extracted. Install them in order. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

you're right it is a Hawker plane but it's not listed under H. it's just listed as TempestMkV.

It came with patch 4.03m (which was quickly upgraded to 4.04m). Do you have that one? In the QMB...its about halfway down the list. Its a REALLY fun fighter but you need to spend a bit of time with her...she's fast and capable but not for the faint of heart http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think the tempest is only available in the merged install. So if you are running PF standalone you wont be able to fly it. Just a thought.

OK I found it in mission builder but I couldn't find a dynamic campaign mission with one. I also had a number of skins so maybe I messed up another campaign install. Heres an idea. How about selecting a campaign through the type of aircraft you wish to fly, as opposed to selecting a campaign and then choosing from applicable aircraft. This spawns another idea, how about choosing any aircraft for a campaign.

The Tempest isn't presently available in a campaign which is why maybe you can't find it. But you should look for flyable aircraft in the QMB (Quick Mission Builder) before going anywhere else.

I'm almost finished with the beta testing on Storm Clouds (Tempest Campaign Part One) so you will soon have a campaign to fly it in.

Check it out!

Largely because a few pilots find the Tempest is the perfect match for them while most others find it too big, too heavy, and overpowered for their purposes. The vast majority of pilots prefer the Spitfire or 109 as opposed to the FW190 or the Tempest.

Its always been my favourite WWII fighter since the day I found that it existed but what I found really validating is that the first time I flew it...the plane just responded like I expected it to and it fit me and my flying style perfectly. It flounders if you treat it badly which is good because I need plane that fights me enough to keep me honest.

Glad to hear there are others out there who love it. I certainly do.

I love the Tempest and it's sweet cannons but what bugs me about it is how hard it is to read the cockpit instruments in it without zoomin all the way in and moving the view down ...and then you can't see approaching bogies or anything else outsise the cockpit.

I fly the Tempest pretty much exclusively too but it does have some issues. mrsiCkstar is right that the guages are hard to read unless you're zoomed in. My other chief complaint is the poor rearward visibility. I don't know who decided to recreate the Great Wall of China in the back of my cockpit but I'd like to have a word with them about it. It actually gets worse if you turn off gunsight view. Bizarre.

Bigger monitor? New glasses? I don't have trouble reading them...they are very sharp to me.

you're right I could use a bigger monitor lol... thing is I can read other instrument panels just fine... the Tempest seems to have the smallest dials or something, the numbers just won's how up for me ...but I memorize what instrument is what so I get by.
