View Full Version : B-25's 50 kiloton bomb load

I searched here some to see if anyone else had noticed this but none found.
Has anyone else noticed how aircraft under AI drop thosands of bombs, even F4Fs. What is worse, they do this while rolling, ejecting bombs upward!
I am new to PF and have mostly been flying B-25s out of Bougaville, largly under AI. It would not be so bad except sometimes bombs will drop continuosly until starting aproach to the home airfield. It is a wonder I am not shot out of the sky by our AA!
Even that wouldn't be so bad but, when crippled and barely able to clear the Stanley range, I may clear a ridge by 10 feet but, with bobs exploding 10 feet below,I die.
I waited for 3.04 but it still does it.
By the way, I LOVE PF.

Do you have "Limited Ammo" switched off in "Difficulties"?

Turning the "Limited Ammo" difficulty setting off then doing aerobatics while dropping bombs is a hoot http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Superfudd, check your difficulty settings, I think you'll find it's off. If you switch it on this behaviour will stop (though if you're flying a campaign you wont be able to change the campaign settings without restarting it).

Turning on "Limited ammo" in the Difficulty settings is the obvoious solution to the infite bombing.

Another tip is to set "Bomb delay" to say 4 seconds in the aircraft customization. That means that bombs explode 4 seconds after ground impact. Very helpfull when releasing bombs very low. Otherwise, as you mention, you get blown to pieces by your own bombs. You can actually see some dust where the bombs hits the ground and 4 seconds later kaboom. Quite neet. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good to have you with us.

PS. If you have the IL2:FB+AEP try loading up a flight of Pe 8 (large russian bomber) with the largest bomb they have. Let them fly at 1000 m and shoot one down and see what happens. (Use the quick model builder (QMB) to make the flight.) I can promise some fairly large kaboom and some serious secondary effects on the rest of the Pe 8 flight. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif
