This guy was one of my heroes growing up. I used to use his old oxygen mask that my grandmother saved when he came back from Korea. He was a juvenile delinquent who was given a choice of going to jail or joining the service... he chose the latter... and did well. He got out after his hitch, went to school and wound up becoming a Professor of Physics... Dr.Dennis Jasper Judd.. my uncle, known to all of us as simply Jas. He is one of the reasons why I developed a love of airplanes in the first place... Rest in PEACE Dr. J.

Wow! Cool that you had the experience of getting to talk to this guy and know him well. I hope you had the opportunity to document some of his experiences and observations. I feel kinda robbed when one of these incredible men leaves us.

On friday night I was chatting to a gentleman I know who is veteren of the Normany landings, when ever I speak to him I'm struck by the thought 'they don't make them like that anymore!'.
From what you have said before the same applies to Dr Jas.
Condolences to your family.

Like you BC, one of my relatives was my hero growing up, and I always wanted to join the service and be just like him. It will be a very sad time for me the day I loose him. My condolences to you and your family BC during this time of bereavement.

Salute to your uncle old friend. His journey illustrates some of the "worst" and the "best" things about this country. Where else could he have risen from where he started and finished where he did. It's stories like his that temper my pessimism and remind me of what my Daddy used to say...

"Don't have don't mean can't get."

Thanks for sharing...

PS: Sorry I was slackin' put that vid card in the mail this mornin'.

Ya know what is so elequent about heroes: They may pass on, but their good works sustain forever.

May your hero rest in peace Barry. And may his works live on!

It's amazing what one good man can bring to the life of those around him. His service is not at an end, I am sure he is needed on his new journey!

Barry this is a great picture. Soory for the loss. I think Dr. "J" lived the best years in uniform and lived the life of a premium Airman.
