Yo ye peeps of this forum http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Finally taking the leap and investing in a TrackIR unit... but I have some questions... I'm in Norway and have not been able to find anybody who sells TrackIR 4 here... I however found a place (in Sweden) that sells TrackIR 3... now... if I get version 3 plus the Vector Expansion thingie will I essentially have a TrackIR 4? The price of the version 3 unit here is about the same as for version 4 on NaturalPoint's website... but if I buy a 4 from there I'll have to pay customs etc.

Anyway... if I were to get version 3 and Vector Expansion, comparing that to version 4 what all would be different? I know the version 4 sensor has a bit wider angle that it detects stuff in... but anything else?

Thanks everyone for any information http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I believe TiR 3 has a 33 degree FOV(or peripheral vision?) where as TiR 4 has a 46 degree FOV. Vector Expansion may increase the FOV on TiR 3, not sure. But even if it does, I don't think it goes as far as the 46 degree FOV of TiR 4. I believe this is right or close to it. Maybe someone else can correct anything that may not be exactly right.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I've never seen a TiR unit, but I thought that the 33? FoV was a characteristic of the TiR3 base unit and probably stays fixed with the vector expansion.

The best place to ask is the Natural Point forums.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Wider FOV as well as higher sample rate which I believe is now 120hz.

The TIR4 also has a much smaller form factor and better clip design.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

well, I just looked at the website that I was gonna buy it from and they've taken away their TrackIR3 and replaced it with a TrackIR 4... only thing is they don't know when they'll arrive and the price is pretty steep... it's $272 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I'm almost certain that it would be cheaper for me to buy it from NaturalPoint's website... but I haven't received a reply yet about my inquiry on wether or not they'll ship to Norway.

On a slightly more positive note I found a place that sells CH products! They have the pedals, yoke, throttle quadrant and the fighterstick USB... but no throttle, atleast yet... they also have TIR4 but it's just as expensive there... CH stuff was decent though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

1- Sure, we will ship to Norway.

2 - For a comparison of the TrackIR 3 to the TrackIR 4.....

Thanks a lot for that Vincent http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I will definitely go for the 4 now... I just have to find out approximately how much I would have to pay the customs if I buy it directly from your website and import it... it might end up so that the price difference won't be that much anymore and I might as well take the plunge and get it from Sweden for $272... I still can't believe it's that much more expensive over here.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
