Got tired of Battlefield 1942 and all it's permutations. I'm looking for something new. Which of these would you get. Don't go into how bad one is, a postive rec will do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

" Call of Duty" which version: "game of the year" or "finest hour". Is the later an expansion pack?

or...would you wait for "Brothers in Arms" if it ever ships?

thanks

S!

World War One? Typo alert

CoD finest hour was supposed to be out Fall 2004...I never saw it. It is either an expansion, or a game not for the PC, I couldn't figure out which

CoD is a novel approach and fun

Hidden and Dangerous 2 is better in a few ways, since CoD is heavily scripted, but CoD is quite good for all that, I enjoyed it a lot

I saw a TV ad for 'Brothers in Arms' on Tuesday that claimed it was already out (I'm in the US)

Buddy of mine picked up Brothers in Arms for the xbox and he says its frustratingly hard but he loves every minute of it.

Brothers in arms. Screenshots look real purdy.

Brothers In Arms is out already for the Xbox, but should be out any day now for the PC.

I've heard great things about it so far and am going to pick it up when it's released.

I used to play Call of Duty with the United Offensive add on a lot, but eventually it got tiresome (after a long time mind you).

I'm sure I'll go back to playing it after a while, but I can't wait for Brothers In Arms to ship.

Chuck, I believe Finest Hour is the console version of CoD.

Brothers in Arms.

No contest.

COD is rather scripted but however it does deliver some intense action.I had fun with it.

BF 1942 alone isn´t that good but I asume you´ve got the Forgotten Hope or Excperience WW2 mod or Warfront. Those are nice mods.

I will wait and get BIA when it comes.

COD and United Offensive is great in Offline play i realy appreciated. STories and dialogues and graphics are great but i can see some quake 3 engine limitation in map spaces and such.

Brothers in Arms i've played the beta and it's very great as well very fun in single player and take the same style of c o d with the aiming system and gun that's a great point and some new features and new engine as well.

COD:UO is one of my favorites at the moment for online play... in the right servers with a fair and fun attitude:

http://www.fkmod.com

Waiting for Brothers in Arms and Day Of Defeat Source for the HL2 engine when that is finally finished.

I agree that Hidden and Dangerous 2 is a lot of fun and runs at a different pace (covert).

Then there is Red Orchestra...I am not too familiar but hear it is great.

So many choices http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Finest Hour is a console (XBox) release of the Call of Duty series - not for PC.

Though FPS are not really an interest to me, I had a lot of fun with CoD:UO online (especially using TeamSpeak). :FI: Dutchman at the Fightin' Irish runs a great server, especially for those interested in a more tactical approach to the game.

Brothers in Arms sounds better in terms of complexity, but I thought it only supports limited numbers online (like 2 vs 2 or something). Is this not the case guys?

TactS!

I don't know about Brothers in Arms, but I liked Call of Duty a lot, and especially United Offensive. All else is second-rate in comparison.

H&D2 is absolutely terrific. Makes me kinda sad that, like most of my games, I never found the time to complete it. I must get around to finding my save game and playing again soon.

I'm looking forward to BiA. I hope it's similarly fun.

(shameless plug)

If you haven't tried FH yet then give it a try. 250+ vehicles, stupid amount of weapons, and crazy amount of maps.

www.fhmod.net (http://www.fhmod.net)

I'll be checking out BIA no doubt. Looks like it might be some fun.

CoD was pretty scripted but it was pretty good. Then my computer's mobo, ram, and soundcard burnt out during play so I kinda never finished the game (even after i fixed up the comp).

Ditto that! FH is awesome. Just download it and find a server running "omaha:charlie sector" map...still the most intense time i've ever had online.

Longjocks, you have to finish H&D2, some of the best missions are at the end. To me, H&D2 is the Forgotten Battles of FPS. Great look, sound, atmosphere, strategy/tactics, etc., but most important the feel is just awesome. I finally found the expansion, and from the first mission I was already drawn in again, amazing game that is way under-rated. Makes CoD and others feel like pac-man.

Call of Duty II is the new PCGamers cover story.

Missions will have an objective, you decide how and with what to accomplish your mission. They are promising the best AI in a WWII shooter to date, even better graphics. PanzerKampfwagon II, British Crusader,T-34's and Jeeps all drivable. Smoke grenades will add a new dimension to TDM online. Sounds like its worth a look.

CoD and CoDUA beat MOH any day, as did Deadly Dozen and DD Pacific.

Brothers in Arms for PC is supposed to be out March 16th.... as per ad on tv tonight. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Can't wait for CoDII... sounds good. Any links for info?

Just google PCgamer the online site always seems to be a month behind the papermag.

I'm not going to quote anything from the article there but its on the pro's and cons of a campaign from the German side and the way a story could play out and still have it end with your Oberluetnant(if thats incorrect forgive me its friday and I'm toasted http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)seeing the light and doing the right thing....(nsert assination plot here)

Red Orchestra, the eastern front based mod for UT2004 is real good. The only reason those that play RO bought ut2004 was...well to play Red Orchestra. It won the "Make Something Unreal" mod contest running away and is now starting to implement drivable vehicles - tanks and trucks. It also uses iron sights. No cross hairs. Realism is the goal with the RO team. Check this link for some screenies. (upcoming maps in next update - 3.2)

I bought Medal of Honor Pacific Assult tonight, and I am glad I didn't open the package because on all the message boards users say the game sucks. I had my hopes up for a kick *** Marine Corps game, as I am a Marine myself, but I'll take her back to Best Buy tomorrow. One one board I heard rumor that EA Games is trying to take over Ubisoft!

cant believe so many negatives about MOHAA,i love it online, single player gets a little tedious but first time round it was great.
if you want a challenge then try CoD on the hardest setting and see how long it takes you to survive pavlovs house.
H&D2 is the best FPS i ever played, stealth is the key.also the in game music is superb and really adds to the game.
recently had a nightmare with red orchestra, apparently it only works for 99% and i had to be a one percenter http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I still had some fun with it, only some parts really sucked, especially the flying part which led me to buy Pacific Fighters. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But replaying a few levels of CoD after finishing MOHPA was a true relief, so I agree you're better off returning it if you have no tolerance for its flaws (which I'm sure you read about on those forums).

Red Orchestra is the most realistic WWII FPS out there today. Brothers in Arms looks very promising, but "the jury is still out". A Red Orchestra review is available here (http://www.simhq.com/_land/fps_012a.html)
