make a directory anywhere but under /program files/ e.g. c:/games/ and install PF under that directory - point it there when installing and patching. That should do it.
It's a Vista problem related to the build-in restrictions microsocks like to call "security"
Other programs that need write access to ini files will require simular action. Vista will not let programs change ini files located anywhere under /Program Files/

Hi

Here is a link to Vista solutions. Install using the a.exe file on the cd to a directory other than c:\program files. Hopefully this helps and welcome aboard. There are other posts around so you may have to do some homework but it is well worth it.

When the default path is shown Simply backspace and remove the word Program from the path...IL2 1946 and the 4.08 patch loads just fine.

Guys, osri16 is talking about Pacific Fighters.

There is no a.exe and patch 4.08 does not apply.
