I can never decide which forum things should go in...so i willl post it here....


Whenever i try to play a game demo i get some pop-up window that says "Error Starting Program...A Required .DLL file, D3D9.DLL, was not found."

its staring to bug me....cant play the Tactical Ops expansion for UT...cant play my XIII demo....my MidnightClub2 demo....nothing!

HELP

now that i think bout it, this shouldbe in tech..../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

That is a Microsoft Direct3D dll, you could try reinstalling DirectX, that may work.

Do a seach for it on your hardrive, it maybe in your /windows folder and it needs to be in /windows/system32 on XP and 2K and in /windows/system on a Windows 9x OS...

i am using Windows ME(i know...crap)....i will try what you said but to the best of my knowledge i dont have DirectX9....u still want my email?

Go to; start> accessories> system tools> system information.

Click on the tools tab and select "Directx Diagnostic Tool"

At the bottem of the "System Information" list will be your version of Directx...

Let me know what it is...

OK... I am not a big fan of Dx 9.0b, not yet. That may change at 9.1 if they get it right.

I would highly suggest getting Dx 8.1, I have used it for a long time now and haven't had any dramas with it...

Good luck...

Oh... and if that does not work you could try pasting in the dll i can send you... that may work.
