Well, the days are counting down and some are badgering the devs, audible knight and anyone who can give a response.

Everything from shipping delays/demands, VAT taxes, packaging variations, Narwhal etc.

I am one of the pre-orders awaiting the e-shop collector edition, and just wanna say what some may be thinking: take a chill pill ladz http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Whatever date it ships, it ships and I'm sure Ubi are doing what they can to get these babies out - Narwhal boats or not http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Lets celebrate and rejoice the gift they are giving us rather than complain about Ubi not making good on their delivery promises, content, packaging options, blah. Dare I say "its only a computer game - theres always limits, patches are likely - so chill?". Uh-oh. I'll retreat now. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

although I am against history being changed or edited for one man's or company's, etc. liking/schedual. It is only a game, what are we gonna do?
well, we can mod I guess.

If SH4 was in fact a gift you might have a point. As it's a commercial product you don't.

Well, on the pre-ordering announcement, the release date that is indicated is March 22, 2007, as it is indicated on the following link :

http://shop.ubi.com/SH4/UK/

Plus if you read at the bottom, you'll find the following phrase :

"The release date is subject to change by Ubisoft without notice".

You pre-order the product, then you agree with all the conditions.

As everyone was warned thanks to this page, nobody can complain about the release date change. Plus, one more week to wait doesn't appear to me as something that could be qualified of "unbearable"...

Lol. Fair. But in the reality of ever so few submarine-sim developers, the product to me and pple who love a refreshing sub-sim is a gift. Commercial, yes. But one has a choice of purchasing or not I suppose http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

I don't recall anyone characterizing the announcement of the official release date as "unbearable"; although I'm not going to search the forum to find out for sure. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

As paying customers we can complain about anything we darn well please. We can complain if we don't like the color of the box if we so choose.

If I pre-order a product and and four weeks later my bank account is charged for the product, it had better ship in short order.

We can also wait and buy the game second hand in six months or so . . .

I have to say I agree with this, as of yet I have not been informed by UBI that they have taken any money from my account, I only know because I check my bank balance online.
That in itself is very bad customer practice. Also when paying for a product you expect some indication of imminent arrival, now I don't care when the release date is, it is when it is, but the lack of communication is another thing.
I may well have to think very hard before ordering direct from UBI again.

Some one most likely will make one if it is not included in the stock version. Keep an eye out for guys like Fubar or AG124 to tackle this boat.

To the best of my knowledge it was not possible to add new submarine models to SH3, so I wonder why people assume it will be possible with SH4.

Posted at Subsim.com in the forums (2/20/07). Information taken from the Hamburg press preview from Voyger532 of the German Ubi forum:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Key elements from the preview (things we didn't already know)

- Ships do infact have crew walking around on decks. Confirmed
(But they still walk around acting like nothing has happened while a ship is sinking, hopefully this will be dealt with)
- You can actually identify which rooms of a ship have been hit in the torpedo holes
- Some ships, not all, do jettison lifeboats (no, he didn't try shooting at them)
- Enemy fire actually makes physical holes in your own hull too. (You can still dive, and water wont rush in... hopefully also will be worked on)

- Direct Translation: The Damage management has been completely overhauled. It used to be that a part was damaged, with the time to repair completion shown. There was something like a difference between a minute to repair, or not at all, because it was destroyed. Now (in SH4) every system of the sub has a coloured bar with the degree to which it is damaged next to it.

- The measurements used in the demo were all metric. (Hasn't the option for imperial already been confimed?)

- On the multiplayer demonstration: The player stands on the bridge of a destoyer, and controls the entire lot of convoy escorts. You can give the other escorts commands via the map. He's not sure if you can switch between ships.
***LAN - 1 escort controller, 7 subs... Internet 1:3

According to Emil Gheorge:

- There will be resupplies at sea
- There will be new mission objectives given out by radio, but general radio traffic has also been doubled
- There is still a point based reknown system
- An improved version of the mission editor will be included
- If sales are good, there might be a destroyer command
- They haven't even started thinking about an SH5 yet
- Unfortunately there will be no abandon ship feature
- You will be able to tally the depth charges from a destroyer to count how many he has left. (no idea if this refers to an inbuilt tally feature)
- No Dolphins But plankton, algae and rocks are there.
- Sun and moon movements are apparently 100% correct for any given day.
- There will be a simplified thermal layer system
- SH4 will be as moddable as SH3, but extra models can't be implemented. (But didn't we also think this in the early days of SH3?) </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I'm not sure if this helps answer any questions though.
