View Full Version : **WarClouds Deathkick is now set to 2 with 5 min ban**

We are going to give 2 deathkick a try. If it goes well, we will strongly consider leaving it at this level.

Since we do not have the control to stop players from disconnecting/reconnecting yet, we will be watching the log files very closely. It is VERY easy for us to spot this and we will be looking quite often to find offenders of this.

Just to repeat, the deathkick is now set to 2 = 5min ban.

awww I love 1 deathkick!

I've noticed theres a bit more ramming going on after the 2 death kick. I got rammed twice tonight, and I saw some other folks get rammed as well.

The 1 deathkick is far better to the 2 deathkick. It just doesn't give the pilots the 'fear' that they had when they were flying. Its really the 1 deathkick that attracted me to WarClouds.

Please do not change it.

Excellent server Sparx, was kinda enjoying the 1 D/K, but hey i'll fly there anyday of the week...just wondered what you're going to do with TOH, and any idea when IL2 Skins is coming, i miss it like mad...and thanks for all you do for this community, dont know what it would be like without your and others helping hand, excellent teamwork http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

i kinda liked the 1 death kick as well..., but i gotta admit...nothing beats playing on a full server.

In anycase, you should experiment for a couple days or so and see how things go, and if things aren't doing as well then you should go to the 1 deathkick(better IMO)

New_York_Flyer , tell us that 2DK face a ramming, ramming to one life player is a bad solution and not respect.

so I have idea setup 1DK at holiday time and 2DK at regular time, what do you think?

You can have a 2 deathkick on weekdays when there are not a lot of people and bump it down to 1 deathkick on weekends to keep the bad blood out!

2 DK is better for noobs like me. I shyed away from WC because of the 1 DK, at least until I get better online.

I may try it out again now.

There is no way to automate switching from 1 to 2 deathkicks and vice versa. That would require a manual restart of the script each time. Trying to get the server as automated as much as I can so Swiss and myself can spend more time flying, rather then messing with the server. Just look at my stats, i have flown just a little over 11 hours since the stat reset which was like 2/3 weeks ago.

Another thing you all seem to forget when it comes to player count, Hyperlobby only shows who is connected via Hyperlobby. It does not count the players that join by DirectIP as well as thru All Seeing Eye. The only program that gives you an accurate player count is All Seeing Eye. When everyone was saying that the server was empty all the time, i am sorry to say you all were quite wrong. There are 25-30 players that frequent the server that do not join via Hyperlobby. So when you looked at the player count in HL and only seen 8/9 players, there were actually quite a bit more. The server had no less then 25 players in prime EST hours durning the week.

Are we going to stay with the two deathkick. I do not know yet. Depends on how well this goes. If ppl start acting stupid again on the server, we will have to start considering what to do about it.

I will tell you this, i am going to be instructing admins to keep a close eye on certain things and they will kick or ban with no warning for these offenses. Are rules are clearly stated on the website. EVERYONE should be familiar with them.

Loved the 1 DK. Kept certain peeps in line a bit. Starting to see an increase in the ramming now. Just my two cents.

Great server and fun for all. If any of you who have not flown it get a chance, drop by. We are up on TS and use it extensively to coordinate the fight. Just pick your side, grab a running mate, and hit the sky.

I dont know whether it has something to do with the 2DK or not,but by this weekend people fight crazyly on Warclouds.Much more base-attackers than ever.Many TAs and FWs just came to the red base alone and shot any ease targets(rolling,taking off and landing planes)that they can find and got shot down in 2 minutes.And i've seen many damaged planes kept fighting even though they got the chance to run away.Or maybe they were doing the right thing,because there are dogfights everywhere and a lots bandits are looking for wounded targets.For me to get kills became much more easier,because many people had 0 SA now and seemed not care about the bandits on their tails,they just wanted to shot down the bad guy in front of them.

The worst thing i find is that there are less teamwork now.Everyone is busy(engaging or being engaged),they just cant help each other.

BTW,many guys hit "refly" before they break their necks after they bail out at a reall low altitude.That's a bug.

All the things you guys stated was exactly why we went to a 1 deathkick. Causes people to fly in a more realistic manner.

We are discussing exactly what we want to do here. Personally, i dont like the 2 deathkick as much for all the reasons you just stated. Amazing how just adding one the the deathkick gives people balls of steel.

We are going to do like we did with the one DK. Let it go for a week, and then talk to people on the server and see what they think. Gotta tell you, i think that most of the players that frequent the server will probably want to go back to a 1 dk.

I honestly find it amusing that people feel they cannot fly in a server that they have only one pilot life in. We are not talking about getting shot down, we are talking about killing your pilot. It is not hard at all to fly and not die. You just have to change how you fly.

There are alot more players that are thinking just as yourself. They much more preferred the 1 dk. But as i stated, we are going to give it a week and then talk to people on the server again and see what they would rather have 1 or 2.

(I have a feeling that you are going to see the 1 deathkick come back )

Players have been flying a little more silly since 2 DK, but I haven't noticed it get THAT bad. The 'fear' is definitely gone, though, or at least greatly diminished. The server is consistantly hitting 40+ players, though.

One way to perhaps keep the 2 DK in place and get some real fear back is to increase the ban time. 15 minutes might do it.

I agree that the 'one life then dead' thing is probably better....does make you more careful,and you tend to disengage fast when in a very dangerous situation - which I think is realistic. As an example,when trying to help a friend with a bandit on his 6, if your gunnery is not so good(like mine!:-)), you can still help just by firing at the enemy....when they see tracer going past, they disengage to save their 'one life'. I know I definately 'check six' more in a dogfight now.....please don't change it permanently.
Is it possible to have your stats reset when you're killed....now that would sort the good, bad and the ugly!!;-)
BTW: I would fall into the later two catagories!
