Hey guys. Im back after a year plus haiatus.

With my x52 upgraded from a cyborg EVO, i can't wait to start the game.

I have dug out my copy of IL2 1946.

Is there anything i need to download? a patch? Some files?

How can i get the best graphics settings available?

Thanks guys!

You need 4.08m patch. 4.09beta is out too, you might want it if you don't play online. It has some great new maps.

Check Bearcat's Nuggets Guide at the top of the page as a sticky. He has links to everything you need to get going.

Since you have a new joystick, you might also want to look here:

You might also find my Newbie's Guide to IL2 Online Dogfighting useful if you plan on using Hyperlobby:

Avoid getting into the mods until you've got your head around the default stuff. Things will be a lot smoother that way too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I recently posted my X52 profile for IL-2 1946 on mission4today:
X52 profile for IL-2 1946 (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3492)

You will need the latest Saitek profile software to use it, and I recommend downloading JoyControl as well, to get the most out of the X52.

Howdy IZT,

I hope you have fun with the X-52, I have the X-52 pro and I just love it.

A few tips that I have learned:

1.) Absolutely always use the same USB port every time you plug it in. always. A failure to do so may result in you having to "purge" your system of anything saitek related and re-installing the driver

2.) Use the latest drivers/sst software from the saitek website, not what came with the CD

3.) Learn to use the SST programming software and "modes" rathe than assigning all the buttons on the stick/throttle in game.

4.) As suggested above, get and use IL2 Joy Control and experiment to find what you think are the best sensitivity settings for you. After a few weeks and you are used to the stick, revisit these and see if your preferences have changed. IL2 joy control makes it a snap to tailor your sensitivity settings to a particular plane.

There was recently a thread in the community help section and I talk at length about a few aspects of setting up the stick: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/49310655/m/6921010486
