Recently put in a 6800GT so I could at least see the surface of all that water better.

As far as BoB goes, all the work on PF has undoubtedly pushed BoB back a little, so I'll hold for a bit and see. I should have enough machine to run it. If not, well then the devs have simply lost a customer. I cannot keep upgrading forever.

I would only say yes if I had the money to throw away. That being needlessly said, I voted no.

Yep. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Just upped from an XP2000 to an AMD64-3000, with a new MB, 512 faster RAM, and kept my 9800Pro.

Should be good enough for some decent flying. (It better be! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif)

I'm in the same boat as Maple Tiger, I would if I had the money, but since I don't have it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif , I voted no.

Nope, no money here either, plus the game should run fine on what I have now anyways. Not on perfect though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

By the time BoB comes it will be a different story alright. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'd really like an AMD64 4000+ and PCIe, so I wait. Oh, and I'd really like the money to buy that, so I'll be waiting long time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Although I have just upgraded my system (last weekend) it had more to do with the series in general and other games than Pacific Fighters.

Since I found the right settings I can say I am pleased as punch.

That AMD4000+ sounds like a good upgrade for my xp3200. And a new board to replace my old 9800pro. I´ll just have to wait and see how nvidia6800 handles the new water effects, haven´t seen any benchmarks, so I´ll wait to early next year before doing any upgrades..

Nah. I'm quite happy with what I have now. I'll still build a new rig next year anyway if the technology advances warrant it though...you know me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

My this is a very timely topic in my household! My Daughter just came home with a new cd game THE SIMS 2,she asked me to install it for her,I tried today ,every time I tried an error came up NOT ENOUGH DISK SPACE,It turns out it needs over 2,800 mb!!!I first took off LOCK-ON to make some room, that still didn't do it so I had to do the unthinkable http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif YEP I took FB&AEP off my harddrive until I figure out whats wrong! My systems only a year old!I can't believe I'm out of disk space, any ideas?

Get a second hard drive.

I've got an older 20GB primary and a 60GB secondary. Works wonders...the 60GB is great...its a Seagate and its very quiet as well. I put all my games on the secondary.

Funny this thread came up. I had thought the same thing over the weekend ... "With the release of PF I bet more than a few will end up adding new hardware or building new systems."

I think like many a vid cards the common upgrade. If you have a high P4 or AMD that is.

Like many I'm running ATI so with a 3.2 P4, I gig of 3500 OCZ and two SATA 120 Maxtors I toy with the idea of a 6800 Ultra for the water. But I'm going to see what I can get out of my 9800XT first. I really wished the X800 XT's supported 3.0 shaders (I kind'a like ATI now after years of running NVidia).

Either way from the looks of it a 6800 Ultra or an X800XT will give most systems a huge kick while anything from a 6600 to a X600 and up should do rather nicely.

But the bottom line is which card will give the most kicked up frame rate and stability in OpenGL. At least thats what I "should" focus on ... but ...

OH THE WATER! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

I might upgrade my vid card from a 9800 pro to a 6800 Gt, but I'm going to wait and see how ist runs on my current hardware. The 6800 GT will really have to crush that new water in order for me to get it. If I end up turning it off to get good frame rates like I do w/ 9800 pro and perfect mode I don't think it worth it. I will build a new system for BoB.

Definitely not a whole new machine ground-up. However I will definitely want a new processor/mobo, and although not the absolute reason PF is definitely a deciding factor. 2.0 GHz sure ain't what it used to be...

2.0 GHz Pentium IV
Radeon 9800 XT
1024 MB RAM

Already did?

My old 2ghz P4 was dying anyway....

So I got a 64b AMD 3000, New Asus MB (obviously, though I can't remember the model ATM), 6800GT, 1024 OCZ, 160GB @ 7200rpm HD, and a fresh new load of XP... Need a nice sound card to round everything out (though there is an onboard sound card already) and I'll be set. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Upgrade? No way for me till BoB, having XP2000, 1024MB DDR, GF4Ti4200128, running FP/AEP just fine...
Waiting till AMD64 939 based systems with PCIe support and GF6600 GT are affordable.
