Greetings everybody,
When flying as Japanese pilot during the first half of the war (1941-42), the bail out command doesn't work, but it works during the 2nd half (1943-45).
Any idea how to solve the problem ?

Thanks.

apparently japs didn`t have chutes at that time ... sounds weird. Anyways. Answering just to calm you down and to say `your game isnt doing anything ours dont. About it, apparently the new beta-patch should take care of it.

During the early part of the war, many Japanese pilots decided not to take the parachute gear. For a variety of reasons...

This is not a bug. Its historical (to a certain extent).

Consider the situation in the beginning of the Pacific War. Japan was on the offensive, meaning most of the time Japanese airmen were flying over enemy territory. Parachutes and simple Armor plate were optional and at the discretion of a pilot, but most refused them for the reason below and to save weight.

The Japanese military had trained their men that surrender was paramount to treason, or even worse, cowardice. Airmen, Infantrymen, Sailors were expected to fight to the death or commit suicide rather than be captured by their Allied enemies.

There were accounts of the Japanese prisoners that were taken had to be tied up because they would attempt to commit suicide. I don't know whether this lack of parachute issue with PF in 41-42' is modeled because of that, but it would seem likely.

I am not sure, but I believe late in 1942, around when Guadalcanal started, that the Japanese military officially ordered that all airmen wear parachutes. They obviously recognized that if Japanese airmen on the defensive were shot down over their own territory, they then had a chance to bail out and return to base to fly again.

Check full mission builder, in the aircraft menu you can choose to have parachutes or not.

Thanks to you all guys for your answers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I didn't know that Japanese pilots carried no parachutes during the early part of the war. That's why I thought it might be bug (especially because my instinct of survival, encourages me to get out of burning plane going to crash into the sea).

Once again thanks for your help http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
