How much you wanna bet the Boss said..."Go ahead Ian and take her ona flyby and see what she can do! whoooo hooo!"

I doubt the pilot would have done this any other way. i think Pratt is hanging him out to dry is what i think.

I reckon he is being fired because the press got wind of it and Cathey Pacific who like any other airline don't want their pilots to be seen as "mavericks" or "reckless", and have sacked the pilot to save face.
I dread to think what would have happened to the pilot who barrel rolled the 707 if he had done that today, Boeing's chairman would have probably crucified him.
