View Full Version : Oleg: slideable canopy in FB or next new engine plane simulation?

I wonder if slideable canopy (open canopy while flying) in most of early planes will able to reprogramable in that IL2/FB or prefer save for next new plane simulation like BOB2005? I don't know it is worth or make different in dogfight to have make effort to programming language and modeling it. If it is for just show-off then I prefer leave it to CFS only and save time and effort for other importand/worth stuff tasks.

I would hope for such innovation in BoB. Pilots did hang their heads out the side to see where they were going on the ground (either that or ground crews would sit on the wings to help).

Did you know the FW190 could not be flown with the canopy open other wise it would blow off

I believe it was the 109, that had the canopy opened sideways instead of "slideways" (making up words is so fun /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif )
Dunno about the 190 though

It will be must for real world since there are so many object on air field that must aviod hit. In IL2/FB, we may look side toward grass/concrete to watch two different colors to line plane up while taxing. It should much less worry but more worry is effect/result while flying in air as we spend 90 percents playtime up in air. Thank you for bring it up anyway. Cheers

Hello Guy's,

As far as I'm concerned with this,we don't need it. I doubt Oleg want's to program more key command's. There's to many as it is anyway's. Don't get me wrong,it would be cool. I remember when I played CFS2 I used to fly around withe canopy open until I saw bogey's. It might be a nice feature in the new sim since I don't think there's going to be as many plane's.

There is one thing that I don't like in FB with the American canopies though. And it's not historical either. Unlike the German aircraft the American pilot's had to manually open their canopies to bail out. American aircraft didn't have small charges to blow off the canopies like the German aircraft did. I wish they would fix this on the American built aircraft. It would add to the realism I think. =S=

- No i mean the FW190 which could be cranked open on the ground, where as the Bf109 you wouldnt want to open until you stopped very heavy frame ,both could be jettisoned in an emergency the Bf109 used a spring arrangement the FW190 used a 20mm blank cartridge also the FW190 was fitted eith an ejection seat but it was not a success and did not go in to production aircraft.

What is more of a Icon to the Battle of Britain then a Hurricane or Spitfire fliyng with its canopy opened?

Com'on! this was availeble 3 years ago in CFS 2!

The people interested in "as close to the real expierience Flight sim"is much larger then you think, beeing only worried about Fps and score tables and all..

Canopy will be open-able in the next BoB sim. Head movements as well.
As well as there will be many new features.
