Save game:
When saving to an existing file, the header information is persisted. Currently the header (data shown when looking at saved games) is only persisted when creating a new file. Thus if you save a game at the beginning of the mission, your game save will always report "no ships sunk" regardless of number of ships sunk.

Status:
When viewing status' of a game at load/save time, the Axis Sunk lable and the Allies Sunk lable are reversed in the English display. I did not check the lables on the Deutche side.

CE calcs
The CE can compute the maximum range when running on the surface, but is unable to compute maximum range or time-to-target when on electric engines.

It's actually the Navigator who performs these functions not the Chief Engineer.

Otherwise, I tend to agree. Though I would give these less priority than say, the Sonarman.

If this is related the CE's inability to calculate a shoot solution when the target is clearly identified on the hydrophone, then I'm with you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I'm more interested in the in-your-face aspects of the game's playability and enjoyment though. I don't even care if the SO doesn't talk to me, as long as he does his job.

I've only completed 1 career but found it reached a plateau at about half way after escalating from e.g. unarmed single targets through to e.g. well defended convoys. Thereafter, just more of the same.

MHO follows:
A lucky few have encountered task forces with cruisers, carriers and battleships, there needs to be much more such opportunities for everyone. After all, "Britannia ruled the waves" and they didn't do it by skulking at anchor as sitting ducks in Scapa. Where are the older battleships and smaller carriers on convoy duty? There were many in the later war years, even Rodney did convoy duty. Where are the carrier-based, hunter-killer, anti-U-boat battle groups that eventually overcame the U-boat threat in the Atlantic and broke up the Wolfpacks? PLUS, where are the **** liners, also only for the lucky few?!!! These factors need to be included/increased in the un-modded game to keep the escalation/momentum experienced in the first half of a career going, otherwise it becomes just a chase for tonnage.

Another important missing fun factor is the ability to use the guns when the sea is anything other than a sheet of glass. At the very least separate the flak guns from the deck gun. Being defenceless against air attack in very fair weather is not realistic. In a History channel docci on the U-boat war the other night, the view from the gum-cam of an attacking plane showed a VERY choppy sea and a U-boat returning fire with gusto.

Sure there are a lot of other fixes reported but none of them have bothered me as much as the above. Sure there are mods e.g. World mod, to address the game escalation/momentum issue, but not everyone can add these e.g. World mod killed my FPS and I had to remove it. The unmodded SH3 should have more 2nd half momentum.

Well, that's my rant for the month, use it, don't use it........ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Doug,

I have killed TWO Hunter-Killer groups in my last two patrols. One was just west of Gibraltar and the other just EAST of port of spain (South Carribean). One Brit and one american.

The Brit one almost tore me a new A#$hole. 5 DD escort(and they called in backup from Gibraltar!)...took out carrier and they were all over me for almost a DAY! Thought I was going to run out of air.

The American group I picked off each DD one by one...until I had the Carrier all alone http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Im currently in November 1943...

Sounds like fun, I envy you. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know the situations I described are in the game somewhere, but they are so scarce, only a few lucky players are stumbling across them and then, not all of them e.g. have you also found a battleship task force out at sea, or a liner, or a battleship escorted convoy etc., like some others have found? I haven't found any of them.
