On patrol #22 in late Sept. 1942 and sank 2 Heavy Transports near BC77 at 1040hrs. Both went down as I observed from about 1500M. NO red ship came up and later found that also no "score" was posted. So went back and did it all over and kept along side at about 400M until they sank. SAME RESULTS!

I have noticed that if I do not see or hear the the ship sink no red ship comes up and no score is posted.

Does this happen often, randomly, specific areas, or time periods ???

Thanks SNAKE1937

I had it few times and even posted thread.
Usually on shallow waters but my advice just you have to live with it.
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gifIt must be a bug !

A bug it is indeed. I lost countless tankers to it now. And besides, one time a passenger liner didn't count when it sank in 1000m... I noticed that the crew does not do a "Ship spotted" shout even if you are withing 10 meters or even ram the ship. As if it did not exist... My advice- if you encounter a ship like that, reload the saved game so you don't waste a torpedo and let it go

Quite right!

I once replayed an encounter FOUR times: .....all with the same negative results. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

I guess that "when they're haunted - they're haunted"! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Lol, on my only 200K patrol I met one of the few T3 tankers near the American coast in horrible weather. I missed a lot of ships due to it, and didn't want to let this one go. I re-tried it 8 times and gave up after that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

I have a theory. Actually I had done this several times. When you sank a ship, if it was not broke into half, it would revived and continuous its route after sometimes. And those ghost ships were just these revived ships, which you already took credit, therefore the nexst time you sank it, it didn't count. I had saw that several times when I continuous the same route of the ship, and it appeared at behind, same color and pattern, same speed and same route, sank it again, but not credit.

I had sank two ships in a convoy, then I shadowned the convoy till no more big fishs I wanted, so I turned back. And I found the first two ships I sank were coming, in exact formation and route!

Well, that certainly does not apply to any of my ghost encounters. A lot of them were the first ship I met (or rather, fired upon). Every single ship before the T3 mentioned above was "Destroyed", so no mistakes there. They are ghosts, ghosts I tell ya!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif
