This has been answered before. The short answer is forget it. I think you need to speak Russian to use the software. Its also been said that its very hard to use, and in addition, all maps must be incoroporated into the game by the development team.

I think most agree http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Seriously though-

there have been hints that maybe there is a possibility that the map editting software may (might, maybe) get released, but this is presumably after Battle of britain:Cliffs of Dover is out

On an unrelated note, I just got a new keyboard and it's got a nice feel to it, so the quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog, madam I am Adam, and that's all, Folks!

What bores you about the original maps? Are you talking about the ones that came with PF or IL-2 or what? I think the big, grassy plains from the original IL-2 are plenty realistic ... if you've ever travelled through North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, West Texas, etc then you'd know what I mean ...

But addressing your desire to make maps, if you have the time and patience to do that then perhaps just getting involved with the Full Mission Builder could satisfy your desires for better scenery? Check out this thread for screenshots of Tchaika's workover of the Ardennes map and his start on the desert map:

I dropped this map into my dogfight folder, assigned some home bases to the airfields in FMB, and made every flyable plane selectable. Then I launched I launced in Multiplayer ("Ceate New Server") in order to free-fly around; the details are wonderful and the airfields have tremendous depth now! You need FB+AEP+PF to enjoy however.

I wish I had a handy link to the Blue Max mission that was posted at SimHQ a few months ago that made a 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow' style base ... or the obstacle course that was posted ...

I always enjoyed the little cow paths. Its a great texture.

Oleg posted that we will be able to make maps in BoB And Beyond, but with limited map size. I assume this means we get to make only little dogfight maps. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif I hope not.

Sorry but I think that the maps from pf like guadalcanal and singapore have just boring textures! I understand that there are plains but I think there sould be more details on the ground like on the kurland, normand or north west europe maps! Chek my post I put yesterday, It's more precise, maybe you'll understand. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
