Ok, so I installed SCDA and it runs the hardware detection, and tells me my Nvidia 8800 GTS driver is out of date. I downloaded latest driver, same problem. The lighting in-game is messed up and I dono how to fix it. Here is a screenshot of the Hardware detection issue.

Well, I have the exact same problem.

I'm using 169.21 and not 6921 as the detection app reports, and I have the same lightning problem - there are almost no shadows per say - it's really strange.

Sucks. No one seems to know the answer though

I am not a PC player so I may be wrong, but it appears you are running Vista.

If that's case I don't think Vista is supported.

Well, Nirano is using Vista, but I'm using XP, so that's not the reall issue.

And we both have 8800GTS.

Ubisoft just fails at proper hardware detection, which has everything to do with support.

Actually I don't have Vista. I should've said, I just have a skin for Windows XP.

Well, I also read on the same forum, that Pandora has the same issues with 7900 and 8800 cards. That's really strange, because there are no patches or workarounds to fix it ... at least I didn't find any.

That's a real shame, cause I adore this series of games...I'm sad to say that I am very disappointed in Ubisoft.

These problems are why I switched to a console.
You and about a zillion (well maybe a thousand) people are disappointed with the support here or is it the lack of.

Very poor customer service to say the least.

I do now own a Xbox 360, so I will buy all future Ubisoft games for the Xbox unless I hear that it has no issues on the PC.

That is no guarentee that there will not be problems. Nowadays, devs and publishers are patching console games as much as they are PC games (though there may not be any hardware issues supposedly).
