We all know the phrase, but can anyone remember its very, very first instance? Or even better, actually dig it up?

If I remember correctly I heard it first shortly after the release of Forgotten Battles, when the first, often delayed, patch was announced. So march or april 2003.

This information may be lost to time...a very nobil effort by you to preserve history though...I will begin reading all 15556789 post in a effort to play a part in this important task

I think it's direct antecedent was the Vietnam-pre-Tet 1968-era "light at the end of the tunnel."

I found this one from October 2003. The "Two weeks Be sure" phrase is made in full, referring to 1.2:

Wasn't that also an antecedent of Home by Christmas?

I was under the impression that the phrase was actually coined by TK of ThirdWire or at least his fans as they awaited the first patch for Project 1: Strike Fighters.

"Two weeks" was common vernacular in Kesmai's Air Warrior years before Russia even had the Internet.

I do worry for yourself. Before this message board there was another one. It was not better, but it was a board of yore. Twas there that the most holy expression of "two weeks" be founded.

The question is not when, but where, the short answer would be inside each and every one of us

HEAR, HEAR!

It was a standard joke in the Confirmed Kill / Warbirds community, which in part was made up of Air Warrior vets (incl. the developers).

Be sure!

Wow. I was told that on the SF board, but I responded that it was coined in Oleg's sim world. So it was TK then? Thanks JetBuff.

Maybe every sim community claims it as their own.

I think it all started when Arnold Schw...you know...in Total Recall told the Mars customs person that she (Arnold in Lady Suit) would be staying on Mars for the Trademarked amount of time, but then the Lady Suit malfunctioned and exposed him -- at the same time Arnold was trying to say "two weeks." Coincidence? We may never know.
