hmm ok.

terrain is less than I expect...so is the water...but I guess we're spoiled. Althoug there is no way to know on what scale those textures are - maybe these screenies are from a mediocre rig on mild settings?...who knows.

BoB 1c models will shred those ones, be sure...and where are the 'pits?

I don't think the pits are done. Or at least that's was it seems like if you scroll down the thread a ways.

Way OT but...

On the main site they have a shot of a Bf-109 Pit. Looks pretty good for being yet incomplete. I have the WoP P-51 D/H and all I can say is that even for FS9 the ShockWave P51 is close to flight sim Nirvana. You have to see it for yourself. Wow.

On a 22' CRT 1600x1200 with 6800 U 256 and 4X AA and 8x ansio that cockpit is awesome and 6DoF to boot.
Not to mention the sound quality. I better stop I am getting exited.

No disrespect to 1C, but SHockwave is on to something.

Shockwave is another production company doing a remake of Rowan's BoB and Wayward/Microprose's B17 Flying Fortress "The Mighty 8th", under license from Rowan and Atari. They also did the addons "Wings of Power" for FS2004 and "Fire Power" for CFS3. Plus there are separate addons of the P51 and others for "WoP".

GSNei, Wings of Power IS good. All a/c fly as "absolute real" for FMs.... as close to the "real thing" as you can get. You want to have your checklists handy to fly any of them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There's no bombing or firing of the guns tho.... just flying.

look - I see that it is a WIP...and it is
a flight sim - so I will probably buy it just for that reason alone...we have to have more of them...the genre needs variety and competition obviously to be viable. That said, those screenies are not that impressive so the gameplay and simulation will have to be very very good. I hope that it is.

A bona fide flight sim junkie needs all the dogfighting software he can get his sweaty , shaky hands on, be sure http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I am looking forward to the amount of planes that will be flying in one mission in BOB2... if it is anything like BOB1, man it will rock.

Shockwave mentioned they decided to do the cockpits from scratch. Its one of the reasons the release has been set back a little.

The clouds look very nice, and water from some previous screenshots also was look impressive.

Apparently they've released many more screenshots that we should be seeing soon.

Possibly for good reason. Flight sim marketers, both PC and Console, usually put photographs of real clouds behind aircraft models in their advertisement screenshots. This may or may not be what we see, especially that last Spitfire screenshot. Its possible IL~2 or FB did the same thing when it was being first revealed. I wasn't around back then.

We will have to wait until the sim is releaced to find out if those clouds are in the game, or if one of the Devs can say something, and if they are in the game, if you can climb through them. US NAVY Fighters was one game that had clouds always above you no matter how high you climbed.

that one maybe able to have 1000 players vs olegs eyecandy bob flightsim which just by the graphics and model polys alone its going to have a small ammount of online players to run smoothly.

Who knows both I will probally buy. I really miss wwiiol warbirds airwarrior aces high huge massive battles online.

cough 5 meg skins for bob oleg http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif see how good a hires large skins makes a worse model look.

Granted if both client and host match the extra debris one might expect from greater detailed damage models in the new sim then there may be an issue, however the only data likely to be transferred is an identifier for any given piece of debris and its motion. It's all about the netcode and amount of data that needs to flow (which is related more to complex physics models and player input). What I'm trying to say, in simpler terms, is that a client playing online uses the same bandwidth whether his plane consists of 300 polygons or just 3.

well, I for one shall be buying this game. The alpha 109 pit looks great, along with 6 degree tir and a clickable cockpit (that will enable u too manage engine, flight etc), realistic, real maps and weather.

One thing to remember....

when IL2 came out i was one of the ones saying how it would never be as good or realistic as CFS1.

I'm still finding crumbs from my hat http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
