View Full Version : New Patch - Texture Problem Encountered

11-18-2004, 05:56 PM

I'm using PFCoastie's settings from 3.0 and the new 4.11 ATI drivers. I'll be sending a bug report but just thought ya'll would like to see this. This texture problem happened after I ditched (ran off the end of the carrier straight into the ocean). I've never had a problem before but right now it's hard to pinpoint the culprit because I installed the patch, installed the 4.11's, and set configs to Coastie's settings (which I have used before and I know they work).

i never knew the borg played a part in wwII http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Almost certainly because of Cat 4.11. Square clouds and dustbin lid propellors are a common symptom.

Try the 4.10s.

I'm coming to the conclusion that 4.11 is fundamentally broken for IL-2.

Please post up if going back to 4.10 fixes it.

set to X800/9800/9700 settings in il2setup.exe and test

Same here.
Was just waiting to if it was just mehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Seriously, I thought I could be the 4.12b drivers (though I thought thet were exactly similar to 4.11 except fot 1 fix) - but switched to 4.11 now, and I still have the same problem as you (occasianlly).
Have tried experimenting with AA etc, without finding the cause...
And they do say 4.11 is recommended driver......................

Hunter, I have tried all that you instructed but it still comes out the same. *shrug* I am not worried about it, I can run the il2fb.exe just fine but il2fb_new dont like me.lol

All the same, freakin fantabulous!!

Seriously, 4.11 seems bonkers...

11-18-2004, 06:12 PM
So is it 4.11 or Il2_new...?
Anyone bother to test http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

11-18-2004, 06:18 PM
4_12 same

I believe it's the new exe.

I was getting square grey (for Ki43) and blue (for Ki84) blocks instead of the propellors (while in the blurred out turning motion) while using the new exe with the Cat 4.11s.

I went to the original exe, and the same planes now have normal opaque black propellors while the engine is on.

this was il2 new so I'll switch back to il2 old and let you know what I find...

11-18-2004, 06:25 PM
Ditto. Old .exe seems fine here.

11-18-2004, 06:33 PM
yes that was the same problem i was haveing. doing as master jedi Hunter suggested "seems" to have fixed it for me i will how ever keep testing. the problem did not start till i installed the new patch and exe.

It's not just ATI, I've got an Nvidia ti-4600 and its happening to me, too. 'Cept I'm getting black squarish things flashing on the surface of the ocean.

I get the same errors using the new exe, but the patch works good. Using cat 4.11 on x800xt

11-18-2004, 07:26 PM
Ok i got it to work, but I get micro stutters with it. I did get 10 xtra frames but the stutters were not good.

This is what is needed for ATI to work.

1) 4.11 drivers.
2) Il2 setup >video settings> select X800/9800/9700
3) run the _new.exe

I think that about covers it.

If you have 4.12b the unzip the 4.11 drivers, find the atioglxx.dl_ copy and paste into C:\
go to cmd prompt (DOS) and select drive C by typing cd c:\ press enter, type expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll press enter
In your C drive you will find the new dll file copy and paste that into your main il2 folder. try it to see if it works.

i had this problem with 4.10 omega see this post by me

Same here if using new exe.... regular exe works fine and looking good

9800XT, Cats 4.12

11-18-2004, 08:38 PM
OK, i've been doing a lot of testing and basically using the default settings as suggested above (x800/9700/etc...) and the old exe seem to be the best bet. I also turned water to 0 or 2 (whatever is uglier, can't remember) and that helped (probably freeing up texture memory).

11-18-2004, 08:41 PM
Have you tried what I posted above OilBurner?

11-18-2004, 09:36 PM
Yes, The errors aren't as bad but if you look for them you find them. Examples:

Truck on tarmac dissapears but it's shadow is still there; IJN pilot bails out and he is not textured, just white (like a porcelain doll); clouds suddenly appear or suddenly become more detailed.

Whoa! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Those are NOT small texture problems.

11-19-2004, 05:53 AM
Indeed, NOT SMALL texture problems, like
not loading campaigns (maps) in FB/AEP :-)
