(Taskforce1x1): If we are out of fuel and our engines stop is the game over?

DevTeam: Your navigator will always watch the fuel level and advise you to the best course of action and when is the best time to return home. Even in the event you run completely out of fuel, there may be options still open to you, although your career will surely be affected by such careless seamanship.

I hope we will not be punished if we run out of fuel due to a leak from damage. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

hoist the sail and rowing !!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

May be resupply or towing by a friend ship. Or worst : Captured at see by ennemy !

Can the Sub sink ships by ramming them if they run out of ammo...? Say 15 knots into the belly of the ship...? I know Russian subs were build with a thicker front to do such attacks

Against a fishing boat, maybe.

I was thinking more along the lines of if we were damaged and to loose fuel. ( I wouldnt be careless as to exhaust my supplies) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

couldn't you just submerge and run on batteries? then you can surface to recharge and then run submerged again. That could get tricky, but it should work

Umm, you do need the diesel engines to charge the batteries. They didn't have solar cells back in those days...

Good thinking but it wouldnt work really because of the laws of physics. It takes more energy to power generators to charge the batteries. The more of an electrical load you apply to a generator , the power you have to apply to a diesel engine to rotate the grnerators to charge batteries. Anyways depending on the situation of where you are at in the ocean (friendly waters or open sea) will depend on if you should risk your valuable secondary power. (batteries) If you exhaust all battery power you cannot pump out flooding water, cannot surface using just dive planes, Cannot see because the lights are out. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Silent Hunter has the possibilty of being towed, as well as the chance of being rescued, captured or lost at sea.

I think that your only chance is to wait and see
maybe a destroyer passes bye and you die!

In SH2 was situation when I run out of fuel, I enter nearest German port (not final destination) and nothing happens! I think in SH3 must be possibility to find some fuel in every German port that you enter not only in you base of your dislocation.

You'll be "punished" if you get sunk due to damage, why would leaks be exempt from "punishment"?
And if you get a leak then you might still go home in time, just keep an eye on the fuel needle.

I saw how fast we loose fuel when damaged while playing Enigma-Rising Tide sim.

Why not just radio for a Milch Cow resupply sub (or other sea tanker) and pray until it comes no one finds you?
