Great shots. I love the P-40E in Bob Scotts markings with the modernized cockpit. Whatever it takes to make it safe for those things to keep flying.

Is that the P-61 that's being restored to flying condition? If so they've really been at it! Can't wait to see her fly.

When I saw this noseart:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/wayno77/FB%20shots/Aircraft/B25MAAM06_YankeeWarrior_a.jpg

I vaguedly remembered that I had seen this plane in Detroit-Wayne airport, in the Yankee-Air-Museum.

Am I right or wrong, you see it's been years since I was in YAM last time.

You're correct.

The B-17 Yankee Lady (in the pics above) is also part of Yankee Air Museum collection. Which sadly the hanger was burned to the ground last year.

They're working on building a new Muesum. And are still having one heck of a ww2 airshow.

This place is actually where I first became an aviation enthusiast!

Without YAM I wouldn't be here today.

Now that i think of it...this year was truly a bombers show... B-17, B-25, B-24, Avenger, Lancaster... still great. BF109 and Spit would go nice with Lanc tho... hehe. Too bad i kinda screwed up the video of Lancaster starting its engines and then taxing on the runway. What a sigh i must say http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It is really sad to see the likes of the P40 restored to a high standard, then the cockpit filled with a plethora of modern instrumentation Junk and toys like the Garmin, both of which are neither needed or in keeping with the Aircraft.

What next,? shove a big turbo'ed Lycoming in the nose because its easier to maintain and cheaper.... same goes for the American habit of polishing the damn things to mirror finish standard... suppose in one way it is a welcome thing in that it gets something that would not have flown airborne but in another it rankles......

I can totally understand the attitude that prevailed in the UK over some comments on a spit that was restored in a none accurate paintscheme.......... the owner said to the person, tell you what, when you can afford your own, you can paint it in whatever scheme you wish, but until that time you will have to put up with what I wish for my plane...

Period Instruments are available so why not fit them, radios can be fitted and hidden too, you might as well be sitting in a modern piper looking at that lot, what next EFIS anyone?

With the exception of the planes that are parked on the outside of the hanger, and the b17, b25, and the c-47.

Taken from their site:

On October 9, 2004, the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport suffered a terrible fire that destroyed the historic hangar housing the museum. Through the heroic efforts of a few members, the beautifully restored B-17, C-47 and B-25 aircraft were moved out of the building before the fire reached them, thus saving the heart of the collection.

The museum did, however, lose virtually all of the tooling, equipment and spare parts for all of the aircraft plus all of the office and display fixtures and equipment totaling well over $1,000,000 in replacement value. While thousands of irreplaceable artifacts, photos and books were also lost in the fire, the Volunteers at the museum are thankful that the aircraft collection remains largely intact. Only a small number of non-flyable aircraft that were in restoration inside the hanger were lost.

Here's a lot of aviation porn for you guys. HI-res available...

I know there's a lot of the Lanc but let's face it, she stole the show.

Oh, and I have videos of the ground battle and various flybys including the Lancaster and B-17 engine start ups if anyone wants em.

the MP-44 was going for $40,000:

But What I cannot understand is why Bearcat has not got his trademark spare pair of underpants hanging out from his pocket...

Pah..... we have this flatulence lighted match trick all the time at UK shows http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's a Canon Powershot A610. I am absolutely in love with it as you can see the quality of the pics are great. They were downsized from 5mp.

I must say that although it was cloudy most of the day, the clouds provided a great backdrop for some of the pics.

Owlsphone... Your Canon photo's have Very Sharp detail and Quality. Sometimes I also find that for certain photo's cloudy day's will help when your looking for detail of an object or ect that your trying to capture in a photo.

By the way I have a Minolta Dimage A200... and have a Ball with it.

One things I enjoy the most about digital camera's is, you can take multible shots too get those just right shots and not be wasting a bunch of film in the process.

Also you can take your shots and send them out to family member's or ect in the same day.

But again... Thank's for the Great Photo's

Here's a couple more. The program and a 20mm shell that Protos was kind enough to buy for all the guys at the show.

Great shot, Choctaw! Of you, your son and Mr. Lucas. Where you there on Sunday? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I was there on Friday from 10:00 to 4:00 and Sunday(when that pic was taken) from 1:00 to 5:00. I am sorry that I missed you. You didn't see my machine gun in the stroller? I am told that a picture of me pushing that thing around will more than likely wind up in next years book for the show. I can't wait to see it. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
We were looking for you, Boosher, and a couple others. I saw VonSpinmeister at the gate and tried to get the others to wait, but you knowaviation pron. Too much to see. Check out the group shot from Owlsphone. Maybe you passed us....

No crowds either...

I have that scenery for FS2004 also and love it. I fly out of there all the time.

I've been out of action for too long, and it looks like I missed a fun weekend. Maybe next year.

Anyone going to any other decent shows this year? I wanna hit the Indy airshow in Aug. They have a few warbirds, including a P38...but nothing to compare to Maam.

One of my default choices - nice to see it looks the part from your pics. Probably the closest I'll ever get to it.
