A big salute to all here, and I will be headed to Pensacola with my family . . . late tonight/early tomorrow morning. We will be there a week, so I won't be in here for awhile.

Monday is a big airshow with a public autograph signing at Naval Air Station with the Blue Angels. Also, a visit to the National Naval Aviation Museum is in the plans while there. I will take pics, and post them when I return.

To be honest, I knew that I would probably miss the patch release, and been fooling around with the leak a bit in anticipation of the real thing, my 2.01 being properly backed up http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'll miss the forum, but trust me, I AM going to have a good time.

I've already had the obligitory car trouble: blew a radiator hose yesterday, and am on my way out to fix it as soon as I post this. Oddly enough, the hose blew after me taking the car in yesterday for a pretrip inspection http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Murphy's Law, ya know.

So, enjoy the patch when it's released, and think about Tsisqua once or twice . . . and if you are the type that prays, well, say a liittle prayer for our safety on the highway, and I will see you good folks about a week from Sunday.

tsisqua,

Enjoy the trip. I was there a month ago. We try to make it by the PNAS museum every summer while at the beach. Well worth the trip. If you have kids, you will be spending 90% of your time there lifting them into and out of various cockpits on display on the second level http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif There's a couple you may want to jump in too. I did.

You may find that because of construction you can only get to the museum from the Station's west gate. (may have finished by now). Also, because of an elevated threat level, your car will likely be directed to a large drive-thru tent and searched with mirrors and all. (my kids loved that).

We missed the show this year, but the Blue Angels show I've seen in years past is excellent. Get there early. Bring something cold to drink.

They offer a flight line bus tour, that I've not done yet. If you do it, come back and fill us in.

Finally, If you happen to be going through Mobile. Stop at the battleship. They have a few airplanes too. A beautiful Corsair, a Tuskegee P-51, B-25 and more. The submarine is pretty cool too ...not to mention the battleship itself.

Have fun.

Want to amaze your friends and family with your photographic prowess? One of the Angels' big crowd pleasers is the head on pass of the two solo birds, but it's almost impossible to catch both a/c in the same frame by yourself.

When the big moment is coming, track one and make sure one member of your party tells you just before the two merge (a simple "now, Daddy!" will do).

A buddy and I alternated this trick at Miramar for 10 years, and we each have 5 shots of Hornets appearing almost nose to nose.

cheers

PS-we don't call each other 'Daddy'

PPS-don't forget your sunscreen & jugs of Gatorade, and a broad brimmed hat isn't a bad idea either

Cool!

I'll be there with the family right after the 4th of July. We're heading to Hunstville first then down to P-cola. Hoping to see some BA practice sessions.

Of course I'm bringing the laptop with me so I can still keep up with the forums (wireless cell modem http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) AND play IL-2 while the kiddos are in the pool http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Enjoy your vacation and stay safe.

Thanks for the well-wishes, and ideas for having a good time, everyone. We will have three cameras flashing while the Angels are flying, som maybe between the three of us we can get the head-on pass. We will try to hit the museum the same day, and my guess is that everything after that will be normal family-on-the-beach type stuff.

Skid, I'll miss the late night chat session. Get your work caught up, and get your a$$ into the air once in a while, Ok? You know that all work and no play makes Skid . . . well, it makes you grouchy as hell LMAO!

DxyFlyr, thanks for the warning about the construction http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'll remember that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

horseback, I cannot resist: Ahem . . . WHO'S YER DADDY? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

Karaya,
Give me the laptop. Give it up! Just hand it to me now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif I deserve it. Oh, well, my wife would kill me if I were playing IL2 on vacation. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Seriously, bro, drive carefully and remember you don't have a wingman to cover your six on this trip. So, if you get shot down can I have your computer? he he heh

I'll give you a call from work tonight.
