How can most people use mods already on ZvsW?
I thought it was a 4.08 CRT2 server? No?

No. it was not a CRT2 server.
Only CRT2 server left is spit vs 109 4.08m and it's dying out.
Both spit vs 109 4.09mod and zeke 4.08 mod are being populated hot.

"Requiring" mods? So now we MUST use what was originally a hack, and should remain an optional thing, in order to fly online. No thanks, I will rip my modem out (metaphorically speaking) if that's the case.

Besides I don't like the wording of the poll, it shoudl be "Should Zekes require mods? Yes/No"

The mods are cool for offline play, but they interfere to much with my control configuration for it to be enjoyable online.

If i could find a way to fix those problems i would be more inclined to play on modded servers.

You better check CZ_AH_Dedicated then. It's still 4.08 mod friendly...Try to join in the week-ends,and if you have luck, you'll see what's dying and what isn't. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
If we have to talk about dying stuff, check WarClouds and Wings Over Europe/both running on cracked 4.09b/.
Usually i feel lucky if i and the rest of my squad manage to join there in CZ_AH at ones, because in week-end nights and not only, all the 61 slots are busy.

I agree... there is certain number of simple mods (like those cockpits for Bf-110C, M.S. 410's, Hawk 73 etc...) that wont do bad things, but there are some that will interfere with your in-game experience, be it by lowering fps or simply having in game errors due to incompatibility etc.

I'm talking about Warbirs of Prey servers, not about worldwide servers.

I'd rather play with improved graphics, better sounds, better skins and better effects. So Mods are a good idea http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyway, worldwide or not...People prefer to play on 4.08 mod friendly rather than 4.09b cracked.

Atleast that's what i see,the cracked 4.09b servers are empty most of teh time.

My standart server. Great maps, great people and hardly ever fewer then 30 people online. Ususally it's in the 50/60 range.

If you are familiar with New View there is a hot key that lets you lock borders. For some reason it doesn't quite work right with the modded versions. It is a critical command because it lets you lock the mouse on center when its not being used for panning.

Anyway, with the mods pack, i end up having to do several more button presses to override the issue that is normally handled by the program. It is tolerable, but it isn't something that's favorable when playing with human players.
If I saw two servers that offered similar game play with roughly the same amount of people, except one required mods and the other was stock il2, i would gravitate toward the stock version of the game for that reason.

What NewView needs is a "center while un-held"
command. This way you could map a button on your mouse when you need to pan, then when you let go it snaps to center and stays put til you hold the mouse button again.
I've rigged my mouse to function that way using various commands in new view, but it seems to be limited to the stock version of the game.

(not sure if i'm talking excessively about mods or not)
More specifically, it will lock on center view, but when i move the mouse it pans inside Il2 as if NewView were shut off or not present.
I'm no genius with computers, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif so the most i can do is play with the buttons and settings i have.
So far, nothing has changed it, and i really think its a hard wired problem that can't be circumvented by compiling different settings or combos.

So as long as that problem is there, then its really difficult for me to enjoy a mod server over a stock server.

Im waiting for someone to say

"Quiet in the cheap seats!!"

If you used the U.I., have you tried disabling the 6DOF Mod? I have no idea if it'll make a difference, but it's seems worth a try.

Let's keep mod related troubleshooting and mods=good/mods=nogood discussions out of this thread please, okay?
