Ok, I went out and bought some stuff to upgrade by computer.

Here is what I already had:

512 RAM
amd athlon xp 2000+
Ti 4400
nforce2 motherboard

I talked to the guy at CompUSA and he convinced me to replace my old Ti 4400 video card with a new GeForce FX 5700 LE OPTIMA. I also bought an additional 256MB of RAM.

Was this a good decision for the price? (By the way I spent $200 and there is no way I could spend a penny more.)Is there any other video card that I should have gotten instead (without going over $200)?

MOST IMPORTANTLY (if the video card was a good choice) WILL IT RUN PACIFIC FIGHTERS IN PERFECT MODE?????

Hope this all makes sense.

Thanks

(Also thank you Sakai9745 for helping me earlier)

You can buy Nvidia Geforce FX5900XT on newegg for $169.00 (which I think is better)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1

and your 256 ram for around 40 dollars

Of course you could saved more if waited for sales, or looked at cheaper online stores. I don't know much about nnvidia but I do think you'll be able to play on perfect although not with much fps.

I'm using the FX 5700 too, 512 ddr 3200, Asus N force 2 mobo and an XP 3200.

It runs well @ excellent mode ( ie fps low is 15 or so, high can be 50 or 60 )

I'd say that you should be okay providing the missions are not too flack heavy.

how much better is the GeForce FX 5700 LE OPTIMA than the Nvidia GeForce4 ti 4400?

Well I went up from a ti 4600 to the Fx 5700, and it was on a differert PC too, ( old one was 512 pc 2100, P4 1.6 and I used an Audigy one soundcard ) on that rig I only have FB, but framerate and quality wise it took me up one notch in the eye candy dept and maybe 20 fps more.

I'd need to run the same mission on both and apply the same settings etc, to really test, but It was a noticable improvement overall.

i can run perfect with reasonable frame rates.

specs: GB 8e67pe, 1 gb pc333 ddr, p4 2.4, gf4 4200ti 128mb, on board sound.

perfect runs well, no king kong action. i have trees & water set to 2.

my system is hiaghly tweaked though. for awsome flight sim performance, check out this sitehttp://www.fs-gs.com/

Would have shot for total 1 gig of ram. Then bought VC card with left over money.
To see if this would have been the right choice watch your ram usage.
