View Full Version : Uh, an age-old question about magnetic pistols

Now, I've read in "I think" Doenitz's memoirs that magnetic torpedoes failed miserable when shot near Norway, due to very large amount of iron in bedrock. They were a lot more reliable in other places (yet less so than impact, as we know).

Question, did anyone actually ever test if this was true for SH3? Do we get a lot of prematures, period, or are they actually more frequent by Norway?

Hmmm, i dont think so.

The premature detonation propability for a certain torpedo is set by a single value in some cfg file.

As far as i know there is no possibility to define a value for certain map areas, only a "from-to" date.
