Will we experience dud torps in SH3?

I never experienced a dud torp in Sh2 which was a great shame as this was not accurate.

I'm almost sure that we will experience dud torpedos. In SH2 it deppends on realism you have selected, so I guess that in SH3 it will B similar.

I have too many! Got it a few months ago and have been playing it since. Even with all of it's faults, I love it.

Is the 'dud torpedoes' option turned on?

Yeah, I play SHII at 99% realism (external view junkie) and I get dud torps all the time.


The poster said "Join The Navy, See The World". So I did, and I'm here to tell you, the world is flat and blue.

Yeah had also to many duds.
It usualy happened when I tried to blow a destroyer out of the ocean.
Due to that I usualy lost or escaped severly damaged.

There are loads of DUDs in SH2 sometimes to my annoyance but hey thats realism for you.

Its great creeping up for over 2 hours in fog to get a line on a Battleship, You fire 4 torps at 8m deph running and listen.

Soon come the escorts and all you hear is "the torpedo is a dud sir" twice.

I alway have realism on full but just turn down damage to 70% to compenstate for the eagle eyed dd.


I have just watched Das for the ???? time and have enjoyed it more than pevious times for one reason.

I centered my viewing on the Chief engineers story and his contribution to the ship whilst damaged at the bottom.

I hope this game gives us similar situations/immersion where you have to/can conserve air by sending men to bed etc.


Can someone suply me with links to good download sites for sh2 apart from subsim. And can someone give me some feedback on pacific aces before I send my contribution. Is it buggy.

I am after working sky mods and other stuff.

The dud torps in SH3 are greatly affected by the angle of attack. If I attack from a obtuse angle from the rear they are very common.

But my attacks are almost always launched from a perfect 90 degree angle, and with this I never get dud torps.

Hopefully duds in SH3 will be more common no matter your angle of attack.

Plus prematures explosions, torpedoes detonating at end of run. Failure of depth keeping gear until July 1942. Failure of magnetic combat pistols until December 1942.

Well, that would be very nice, if you get dud torpedoes due to certain purposes, not like a % probability. For example you should have expected dud hit at certain angle as contact detonators didn`t work well - or didn`t work at all - at a degree far from 90 deg.
Apart from that it would be GREAT to have these magnetic torpedoes, so deadly in case their detonators decided to work properly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
