After more testing I love the handling but she does seem a bit slow down low. I could only get 565-570 on the deck, which may or may not be too slow. But at 2,000m I got the same top speed, couldn't break 570km/h with 50% fuel, 100% mix, 100% prop-pitch, radiator closed, etc. Tried different supercharger settings and prop-pitch settings but no luck. This just seems a bit slow although at 3,000 she started to come alive and hit around 597km/h. I do however get around 660-670km/h at 6,000m and 8,000m. Not much of a drop off up high.

Something to remember about F4U vs. Ki-84 is that the Corsair was downing aircraft as early as Feb. 1943, whereas the Hayate did not see real service until mid-44 or later. Its kind of like comparing Corsair to FW-190D. The F4U should be dominant in '43 and I think it is, but in mid to late '44 and in '45 the Japanese planes caught up, and in the case of the Hayate, surpassed the F4U. By the same token the Ki-100 was a '45 aircraft which gives the developers a legitimate reason to include the F4U-4 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif.

It's a bit undermodelled now. They just cut the 120 mix for below 2000 ft only and maybe they mader her a tad faster at high alts. But it's climb is really bad now, worse than wildcat... I can barely hold 2800-2900ft/min with full WEP now, it made well over 4000 which was too much before. Should be in the 3500 range AFAIK.

You know, "2 finger method" people always seems "point mouse, double-click hilight, Ctr-C & Ctr-V" is easier than just simply typing even 3 letter words.

And the funny thing is, many people seems pressing SHIFT key for proper capitalizing is a lot of work while putting an `'` (takes 2 key strokes) is no problem.

Perhaps a review of the Pacific air war would bennefit you.
I agree that Jap planes got progresevly better toward the end of the war, considering the A6M ZERO was obselete fm the start, it's only saving grace being it's manuverability.
During the attack on Pearl Harbor not only were kills scored by P-40s but the first type of A/C to score a kill at Pearl Harbor was the P-36. On christmas eve during the invasion of the Philippines 2nd LT. Richard LaMar Gillett dwnd a A6M2 in his Seversky P-35.
American pilots who were rookies also held there own in the Battle of Corel Sea, and defeated the IJN at Midway. The P-40, F4F and even the more obselete American A/C held their own against the Japs.
After the introduction of the Corsair and Hellcat they dominated the Pacific.
The Japenese were defeated for a reason, they were outgunned and out fought even by the rookies.

The "crying" about the Ki84, was quite legit...if you are reffering to the hubbub over it during the 1.22 days, when indeed, it was truly unstoppable, no ammount of firepower could bring it down...
It is much better now, and IMO better reflects its RL durability, which in spite of a stigma on JP ac of being paper, the 84 was of comperable constitution to the allied types it faced, excepting of course the Jug

The Corsair is is tough///tuff enuff...just cuz a Jug is a tank, doesnt mean another big, powerful fighter has to be...while the Corsairs centre section was one of the most robust of many types, and often held up well and kept pilots alive in crashes, do remember that the Corsair also:
1 Had lotsa good surface area to inflict damage on...tht fine long hose nose with a large fuel tank in front of cockpit...yes, armored, but let face it, not hermetrically armored!

2 That bent wing provided for just wee bit more linear area to shoot than many other types...and the outer wing panels were fabric, and ailerons framed in wood...(just be thankful that continuous fabric damage from slipstream and/or fire isnt modelled in FB/PF!)

3 Dumb luck, bud...maybe after you precious F4U is shredded for the 1000th time, luck, providence, coincidence will change and you be never get badly damaged easily your next 1000 sorties in it....**** happens, deal with it, everyone knew the Corsair had to be tamed a bit, lets face it, it had few real vices and was a lil too "easy"

Oh, btw, to get that list of "real" planes....just take the list of every type in FB/PF, then go to any arcade df server, and aside from the odd Jug or 190 flying, scratch off the list everything else that is flying....youre left with the list of "real" planes

in reply to the # 92347143127651412326873512765 whine thread about the Corsair being under/over modeled:
Will'ya any of you guys be so kind to make a test and post the results, then confront them with factory and serviceable data of the real plane, before coming here and crying "Oleg please fix this, i can't out turn the Ki-43 in a Corsair, it can't be right" or "lots of jappanese plane were shot during the war, why can't i score 600 kilss in a sortiewith the Hellcat? it has ridiculously little ammo!" or even better: "Hey, why is my La7 exploding after receiving less than 10 30mm in the fuel tank?"
can't you guys see the pathetism in all this? You're just like some little babies angry because your toy isn't working the way you like.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif
What is that hard to understand?
Why some ppl prefer posting something like that and then have a 15 pages thread argueing with everyone, (about this and that and they know better than everyone how a plane should fly, because they were kiddnapped by aliens and how who knows who stepped on a landmine and his cooking gas cylinder exploded and then he woke up in the morning and he saw a new sunrise http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif ) insatead going and testing, then TALKING aroud the results with ppl in here, and only after that they send an error report to 1C?
