It looks like an abomination!Sad they had to get a surgeon to make the Spitfire so ugly, merely for better performance.

All in the eye of the beholder. I imagine this and the Mosquito will rank at the top of most British pilots wish list based more on looks than performance. Two of the most beautiful aircraft ever built IMO.

This is the plane I've been waiting for. The 'abomination' is the sole reason I am planning defection from the LW. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

PS: Does anyone know what prevented them from making a SpitIX with higher boost? Would have required no new modelling and helped tide us over.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Try to copy and paste each link. That works for me.

The XIV will be truly something to behold. And yes, I think even the real Luftwaffe pilots called it a UFO so thats probably going to be an accurate thing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think the XIV is the most beautiful of the Spitfire marks. Its longer, more slender, the ellipitical wings still stand out, and the engine is big and powerful looking (with better visibility out the cockpit too!).

If Oleg modells it correctly, this plane should stand up to any late war prop plane...I-16's will still give it a run but the 109K and Dora have met their better half.

Long raging debates as to what aircraft was the best...but I'd say the mk 14 has serious "best in class" potential in terms of an interceptor/dogfighter role...and it is not my favorite aircraft...I just have that much respect for this plane.

The screenshots certainly look amazing. Not to rain on anyone's parade but I remember seeing beautiful screenshots of the Tempest V as well... over a full year ago.

Does anyone know if this new Spitfire will make it into the sim? I'd hate to see all of this incredible work done for nothing.

Regards, Goshikisen.

biggs222
01-26-2005, 11:51 AM
yes it will give all teh late axis planes a run for the money, if modeled correctly it should do 574 kph@SL and have a climbrate of 1395meters/minute.

Goshikisen, as far as i know the mkXIV project is trying to be finished as soon as they can, Oleg gave "Nyme" the modeler the green light to do it a while ago, it seems he finishing up his external models now so maybe in a few months we will see this bird.

the Tempest will most likely be in the next addon patch, as AI.

This plane will make it...Nyme is a serious modeller with serious skills that works quickly and accurately....reminds me a lot of gibbage in that respect.

The modeller of the Tempest is likely working at a different pace and has other priorities...I just hope he doesn't screw us by not finishing on time... man am I tired of the "AI Axe" being held over our head...flyable or not at all as far as I'm concerned.

I actually think we'll get both and I'll be willing to bet Nyme will finish the spit before the Tempest is finished.

Go Nyme Go! If you get a wild hair up you a$$, the only plane really missing in this whole deal as far as I'm concerned is the Typhoon....what da ya think?

Ironically I am helping Nyme with the XIV project. Mainly orginizing. I realized there was not much time left and worked hard to get the ball rolling. We are also working on the Brit gyro gunsight for the XIV and also floats for the Floatfire.

The difference between the Tempest V and the Spitfire XIV are a few and definately there is a different pace at work. The difference here is that the XIV you see is really a modification of the Mark VIII already in the game. So I think for Nyme, much of the ground work has already been done. The problems with getting the model ready for implementation are going to be somewhat lessened.

So it should proceed smoothly. But never say never...I cross my fingers for all.

wow the spit 14 only does 574 kph at sealevel. you guys are going to need the tempest then.

109g6as is faster at sealevel, so is the k4 the Dora the A9 and the ta152.

nice looking model, i can't wait, its a much need addition, so is tempest.

As a LW pilot.. I am muchmore worried with the tempest. But This onle will for sure chake things a bit, since We cannot use the outrun tatics on antons. And will for ure eliminate Spit 9 from severs like the 9 did with the 5. Interesting that other planes like 190 and 109 do no disapear in theirs earlier versions when later are available.

BTW.. does anyoen knows the SL speed for Do335?

You won't be able to outrun them short of using a Jet or Do335http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

The Spit XIV and Tempest are 2 totally different planes though. At high altitude the XIV will rock, it will be a real threat to Ta152's because of its turn, climb, speed and ceiling but down low it won't be all that, Its only escape will be to climb which is unbeatable. The Tempest will be good upto 6000m tops, then its really out of its territory. Tempests will be able to lone wolf it to an extent but I think they will need to fly with a wing man to be successful because of the altitude disadvantage.

How ever I think 1 thing will totally change the way we all fly...the new clouds and this well be a huge advantage to Tempest pilots as they can use all there speed and power and hide in the clouds as the did in real life. No more dropping from 3000 to the deck on people because those clouds will obscure them.

yeah i see hords of 109 g6, f,e when online, g10 and 14 are rare, mostly g6as and k4 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

not many 190 fliers about, seems 109 is the more effective ride now. hardly see a5 6 or f8 or a4 on servers

spit will be 30mph than IX ingame, a nice boost http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

25lb boost IX would be nice, similer performance down low http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Clouds = realistic low altitude fighting like I've read about in the late war ETO 2nd Taf territory. I think they will change the way people fight more than any other single factor.

Bah! I gave you a nice taste of the 190 last night:Phttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The 109's are only more effective if you fight on the terms of the plane your following, they can turn and climb with the best of them. If you want to fight on your own terms, hit and run style the FW190 is superior. Its also a way more superior defending airfields and objectives as well due to its toughness and extra guns/options.
