Because it`s HARD! It certainly doesn`t feel like an arcade game, but realistic. This is how it should be and reminds me of my early days on some of the old PC Pacific flight sim games like Pacific Air War! by Microprose.

You really have to judge between flying too fast and too slow.

I just hit the deck hard, skidding the surface in my Seafire, but the Hook caught and I stopped. I felt a little silly sitting there with a busted undercarriage, but relieved. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This is the one thing that bothered me about PF was the carrier landings, after MCFS2...so i tried it last night and did it first time...however http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif...in QMB there are 2 carriers...i used both to land...i came up on the first smaller carrier requested permission to land...i was going to fast...touched down and straight off the other side... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif...by then i'd just slowed down to the right amount of speed to land perfectly on the Lexington carrier in front http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Have you also watched the PF videos...some smartypants at 1c has done a take off...climb...inverted roll...opens canopy...switces engine off and glides into land...as if it were a piece of cake...git! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif...i hate clever clogs like that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Both of these were in Seafires

I used a Seafire for my first try. I ended up alive, on the deck, facing backwards, no gear, no wings. quite pleased, on the whole. I've decided that in future if I get below deck level on the approach, I'll go around, not try to climb up the back of the ship.
If you use the Coral Sea map in QMB, you can only get hooked planes, you shoot down the bandits then land on the carrier. Or not.

Well, to me they appear realistic. Considering i`ve never flown a seafire or Corsair for real i don`t really know. All i know is it feels authentically difficult, difficult in that you HAVE TO TAKE CARE, LEARN, WATCH YOUR INSTRUMENTS and YOUR APPROACH to land realistically on full real/difficult settings.

The way it should be as far as I`m concerned. You really start appreciating all that spare (stationery) land on the normal airfields we`ve all been used to... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
