With all the talk of banning BnZ, shoulder shooting, vulching rules ect.

How about we make a IL-2 Maddox General discussion night once or twice a week and get some good quality COOPs.

Coops are the heart and soul of IL-2. Sure everyone love dogfighting BUT IRL their was some type of mission at hand.

What you guys think?? Lets discuss, talk time frames, good days for people, good historical missions availible ect ect.

I think LOL.
Click sig to know why - this is in all my posts regarding B&Z too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
Co-ops are literally run around the clock nowadays http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Some good stuff, can be played any time:

A CO-OP will force all comers to follow orders and keep to the objective. Anyone who insists on their little bit of personal `b&Zing` rather than the mission escort or protection or turn-burning rather than intercepting income targets will lose.

CO-OPs are the best bet if you have no squads.

That said, I have come across some Axis squads that are so `B&Z` orientated that they will lose an entire online dynamic campaign, just so they don`t lose their B&Z advantage, or leave it so late that by the time they realise they must change tac (and protect ground installations/forces), they`ve lost! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Where is server location RNZOLI??? Is it US based?

My main goal is to get some of the regulars here to have a night to meet up and fly. Not sure if they do over there on that server but that was my general idea. For this community here.

But thanks for server info bro, I will for sure check it out in next couple days.

Good point! All discussions about individual engagement/disengagement scenarios are put into an entirely differnt light, when you have a certain common objective at hand: like protecting bombers, taking out tanks and artillery etc. Dynamic campaigns are best fought with all possible means - sometimes with B&Z, sometimes with T&B, sometimes with hit-and-run, sometimes with personal (statistical) sacrifice.

In a dynamic mission, the objective and the situation "dictates" your behaviour, not some stupid rules. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

In Europe, but there are several vistors from US, Canada, or even Australia. Mostly populated during European evening (US afternoons), but beware, it can be closed for some pre-scheduled events as well (SEOW dynamic campaigns.)

My best suggestion is to try it out when empty, look around, experiement, check "ping" values while one, look for lag, try some of the most typical mission change and end commands. When you're comfortable, bring on your friends or join back when player count is between 3-10 (if above 10, probably a squadron event is taking place). Remember, that besides the players, there are always dozens of AI bombers and fighters on the server http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif which never happens with DF servers.

You might drop in also when some

Yea I was asking in regards to lag from Euro servers. But good idea on checking it out when empty and seeing how it runs.

Thanks wolf.

I don't mind seeing people list coop servers and people who run good servers.

This topic was more geared to getting guys that are regulars here, who enjoy realism and a historical setting. To come to a day and time each week we can run a COOP server and all get together for some good realism based IL-2 Multiplayer.

Example would be say every Wed and Fri we run a IL-2 Forum members COOP. Wed at 8:00pm Pacific and 8:00pm Eastern on Fridays. That way everyone can find a time slot once a week for members of this forum community to fly together.

It is just a idea, for sure does not HAVE to happen. Just a suggestion.

Hi all,

I support this topic http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I 'cut my teeth' in the DF rooms but became bored.

I then discovered co-ops and have only flown co-ops since.

I have created a number of co-ops with the excellent utility Mission Mate available for download at M4T thanks to CrazySchmidt http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif.

I'm totally open to the idea of a scheduled time for co-ops. Sadly, I've never been able to attend a co-op for the simple reason that my time is so limited. I'm lucky to get an hour at a time online. But, if I schedule something in advance, I might be able to swing it.

Many coops like the 99th coops are done on the fly... Usually from @2100-1100 nightly... Just look for anyone with a 99th_ in their handle.. Our settings are Externals, closed pit, padlock, tight icons, speedbar. We prefer these settings because the sim is just too good looking to not see the action, and we like to watch as we land etc.. , most of us are in our 40s & 50s and some of us suffer from CSS (can't see $hit). The icons are tight.. under.8, so it isnt like you can see the blue numbers from 5 clicks out.. We fly how WE like.... and any and all afre welcome as long as they fly as if they are part of a team and not as if they are in a DF server.. cover friendlies where possible, don't shoulder shoot or kill steal... We understand that accidents happen.. friendly fire is not well tolerated. We try to have fun.

Aviar runs great coops..

A good coop mission filled with human players can be an awful lot of fun, as well as exciting and interesting.

I would love to host even more coops, but many times I can't get enough players to join. We've got a lot of new players since 1946 was released and it seems that they initially migrate to DF rooms.

Hey, I was the same way. I did nothing but host\play in DF rooms for the first 2 years. I only discovered coops once I got totally bored.

After hosting coops for the last 3+ years, I can say that I still love playing them as much as ever. For those of you who have never tried a coop mission, I think you should do yourself a favor and give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Phobia, anyone can host a coop on HL. How many players is limited by your connect bandwidth
is all. So why not host what you want and create a bit of internet content?

So true for many of us.
DF is great for dipping our feet in and get good with flight manouvers.
But eventually, one starts pondering about the bigger picture.
That's when so many of us discover co-ops, dynamic campaigns, online wars.

And that's why I so much hate when a few guys thrashtalk online play altogether. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

DF is like flirting.
Co-op is like an eternal love.

Yea last night I hosted a Coop and we had to do some skip bombing attacking the japanese flat top. Running 50 feet off the water, into a hail of carrier fire took a VERY VERY brave soul and surviving was a feat to be proud of. I managed to skip a 1000lb into the side right below the tower and pull up and nail a passing Zero just as I got hit with flak and lost Elevator control. I managed to make it back to our carrier and managed to put it safely on the deck. Minus the landing gear and one wing (clipped tower), BUT I lived and managed a 300 point mission, so all in all in the real world I would of been very excitied I did my mission and lived to fly another day.

Amusing thread. DFs are great, but really they are just flight school where you learn to fly and shoot. Technical stuff. Coops are where you learn to fight - teamwork, getting the mission done, avoiding losses etc.

It's a great idea to have coop nights. But, IMHO, even coops lack something, they are like good hamburgers, tasty but forgettable, unless they are all tied together in some cohesive way.

Anyway, guys, explore coops. You'll be richer for the effort.

Cheers,
4Shades

Yes, we fly on private servers but guests are always welcome. We currently fly 4 times a week at 2:30pm EDT (7:30pm GDT) Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday and Sunday and on Wednesdays, we start at 6pm EST.

We fly with externals on for the most part unless we are doing a Scorched Earth mission; in which case they are off with Warclouds icons.

If anyone wishes to join us, please PT me and I will give you TS server IP etc.
