View Full Version : Messerschmitt Bf109 addon for M$FS

01-14-2006, 03:54 AM
From the German forums:

Up to now the addon contains the Bf109G2 and G10 but more are to follow http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

The detail of both the exterior models and the textures (also have a look at the panels) are unbelievable! I just hope TBoB will look like that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Well it hasnt been said yet what's next on the list... an Emil would be nice or an F - the G10 is a good K substitute anyway http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Holy! What kind of comp do you need to run that?.Stunning indeed.

Looks great.. but it's the flying that will tell the tale.

what Bearcat said!

All the eye candy in the world will be quickly forgotten once the fighting begins.

Sometimes I wonder if sim developers really understand what makes a game great....

1. The graphics need to be believable, but rust on a throttle switch really doesn't affect gameplay....terrain and cities are much more important...as is clouds and weather. This is the thing that makes you want to fly and just look around!

2. The FM and DM along with effects are extremely important to gameplay...smoke trails on tracers, fires, smoke, flak, bullet strikes, secondary explosions etc.....this is the stuff that gives you the thrill when you shoot something. The FM gives you the strategic element of the game...tactics and trying to outwit your opponent....if you are flying a high wingloaded aircraft against a low wingloaded aircraft, the battle must progress like said aircraft.

3. Sound...we "see" our simulator...w/ force feedback we can feel our simulator but what do we hear? Music and sounds can really enhance the experience.

4. Interaction...you must interact with the simulator...like your wingman...does he help you? Do you want to keep him alive or shoot him down for stealing your kills? Can you tailor and alter the sim to suit you...scalability is extremely important. Field modifications...can you tune your aircraft or your mission etc....interact.

5. Learning...you must learn from your sim...when the learning stops, the interest stops...any good sim should have a quick flight/combat mode for instant gratification, a stragic element like campaigns, a good multiplay mode for the ultimate challenge and a strong mission builder/campaign builder...this is very helpful...anything that can be done to enhance skin generation, model building, terraign building, nose art etc can only enhance the game.

Those pics of the 109 are simply awesome, but I'd exchange more aircraft and objects and some of the other things I listed above, any day, for the detail in those aircraft...it is really cool and it would be really cool if I could have both but I like variety, interaction and learning...my imagination will take care of the rest.

The what? MSFS is not a combat simulator http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif.

Very good.Exciting even.It will keep Oleg on his toes and force him to validate his opinion of BoB making new sim standards.

This one will keep us from whining to Oleg so he can deliver super FMs/DMs http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I expect history to repeat itself.CFS3 was about to stomp IL2.It never came close.

My little dream is to have the same with BoB.

Very nice pics.

I've never quite understood all the hype on aircraft skins. Some sims seem to invest more effort into skins than the overall terrain. Afterall from a 100 meters the aircraft takes up a very small proportion of your monitors screen, maybe 1%. If the other 99% is crappy there goes my emmersion.

There is no doubt that the skins must be done well. The sight of your wingmen in close formation can be quite impressive. Its all about balancing your resources to get an overall realistic feel.

Emerson loverly skins, be surer...

It is good for us that we are having some competitive pressure applied between sim developers. Keeps us customers in the catbird seat.

Very nice work but it's worth understanding what you are see in these pictures.

The cockpit pictures are development shots produced within a 3D modelling program not in game. They will take flat images of that 3D cockpit to produce the MSFS 2D panels and then create a much lower polygon 3D panel for the virtual cockpit view. It will look much the same as you see but with a lower resolution.

It's a very nice aircraft for MSFS2004 but it's not competing with BoB.

Looks good, but I wouldnt say its THAT much better than Forgotten Battles plane models which are still in the merged install, and that is over 3 years old now.

I am sure BOB will look much better.

01-14-2006, 02:56 PM
Oh forgive me Great Oleg of 1C fame, but i think i am going out to buy Microsoft Flight Simulator tomorrow....

01-14-2006, 10:22 PM
they obivously hax, as that looks better than the real thing

Very true, which is why it will prob be converted for use in CFS2. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Looks nice! If they made an Emil, that'd be the icing on the cake

01-15-2006, 09:51 AM
Hm, agreed. Considering these

are actually screenshots of what the cockpits will look like in BoB, rather than just 2D-panels like in M$FS... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
