Hi,

http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/il2guide/download.htm

Download the PDF file, about 768kB. Have a look at chapter 8, "Ground pounding and fighter tactics". I'm afraid there's not much on level bombing, but in IL-2 you can only bomb accurately with dive bombing techniques. The bombsights in some level bombers in FB allow for good level bombing.

Cheers,
Mike

You can either dive bomb for a better accuracy or set a 1.5 or 2 second delay fuse on the bomb and drop them at low level.

I find that flying very low and very fast in an IL2 carrying bombs at the smallest craziest distance let your bombs go whilst sharply pulling up, it sort of flicks the bombs forwards, seems to help me :s

Relax,

You're doing brillant if you can hit anything with a bomb even after a week at it.

The best I can do is go very low, skim the head of the target and drop just before (with 2 seconds + delay or yr boom),

Rockets are a bit easier and more fun - you can use the gunsight zoomed in

Pretty good tactic actually, it's called loft bombing.
But I don't think I'll stray from dive bombing unless there's an air-to-ground radar and a CCRP sight involved. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

(Apart from bomb delays, although the flakpanzers usually benefit more than me from my low level passes) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

i find if u release bomb when the target disapears under your nose theres a decent chance of a hit, thats if your low

use a Stuka, 2 second delay w/ 30degrees dive and use the gunsight for aiming. can't hardly miss.

If im not in a bomber I would dive bomb... cause if you do it right you can have amazing accuracy... once I dive bombed a guy while i was 2.0 away right above, Thats when I dropped the bomb anyway the TBA3 that was sitting on the runway had no idea what happened when he split apart....
