View Full Version : Is possible to create “European” types of missions at the Pacific Theatre? (DGEN)

As I observed, European dgen campaign missions are more interesting than in Pacific campaigns. (in Pacific campaigns as scramble or intercept missions I always have to simply defend my airfield. There are no such patrol and defence missions as in European part of the game. European part gives wider variety of objectives, missions etc.).
Is possible to use “European” type of dgen campaign missions at the Pacific theatre?
And if yes, how can I do this? By editing ops files?

You might like to do a google search for Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator.
(DCG)

Using this tool it is possible to create fully customisable campaigns, I use it and in the case of the Pacific Theatre and it is far superior to the stock DGEN IMO.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to discuss it in any detail here but you can PM me for more info if you like.

I tried to use DCG a few monts ago (maybe a year) in a Finnish campaign, but there was a few unacceptable features as for example a problem with enemy squadron (which is not assigned to my objective) who ignore my squadron and don't attack us, or problem with enemies who started their mission always over their territory.
So I thought that dgen campaigns are better. I modifieed pacific campaigns by adding a lot of missions to ops files (with variety of quantity of enemy bombers, fighters, my allied planes etc., but it is still very boring opposite to European campaigns.

But maybe jamesblonde1979 is right and DCG is much better than a few months ago?
Is there a possibility to adjust allied and enemy skill (when I fully replace dgen to DCG)?

Squadron skill levels can be customised or set to default.

I don't think that DCG has changed greatly in the last few months but experimentation usually gives a result that is more interesting than scramble, intercept, scramble, scramble, longrange-escort that is beyond your fuel capacity, scramble. That and you can actually configure what you want your next mission to be if it is within certain parameters.

The option to add more types of aircraft is what makes the campaign more unpredictable I find. Using smaller maps makes for some interesting sorties too.

Apart from DCG the only thing I can think of is to modify the campaign files yourself like you have done. I have a backup Dgen folder for just this purpose but I have never been able to do much except changing the skins of certain aircraft and adding new types.

There is an AI mod which might make those DCG enemies more agressive but that branch of discussion is taboo.
