crazy thing i was coming out of tokyo harbor and this destroyer came at me head on. i tried a bow shot with my only loaded tube. a tube loaded with
a mark 10. but it missed as it passed the destroyer the warship spun around and started chasing the torpedo only to turn back after the torp ran aground on the eastern shore. by that time i was not where i was wile he had his sights on me so i sneaked away gracious that little torp saved my boat http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif have you guys ever had that happen to you?

I never had it happen. I don't remember anyone else saying anything either. One thing we found about this game. It is so immersive that strange things like that do happen. That's one of those odd things that you would hear about in real life.

That would be a first in gaming history here.

I think what happened is it dodged the torp and probably lost contact with you and just happened to search in the area the torp went. The games programming doesn't allow ships to hear torps and will always try to evade a wake, not chase it.

I've seen about the same thing several times. One thing good about even a miss, it will often throw a escort off your trail and stock has some dumb escorts.

Speaking of Tokyo Bay, I found that just outside the mouth of the bay is a great place to set up shop in early '42, especially in a driving rain storm with no visibility. Over about 72 hours I nailed 7 targets, 6 single merchants and a Katori Cruiser. Never saw a single on due to the weather. All were set up with passive sonar, until they were under 1000 yds. Then I'd ping once for final range and to set the AOB (based on tracked course). It was crazy easy. No planes. Two sonar contacts of what I assumed to be an ASW team would come out from time to time, but they went to a spot and just stayed there. Was easy to move around them.

yes i love rain storms on my last patrol is stormed for most of my patrol i could surface and race to a good shooting possision without being subject to deck gun fire or alerting my target. it was a great patrol for my standards atleast never completed my objective but sunk 44,000 tons and used every single torpedo usefully. that is how i determin a good patrol how i used my torpedoes whether i wasted them and returned with half of them with 22,000 or like the one i just did use every one wisely and my deck gun is out of shells my aa gun is about half eyempty then i get a radio contact
guess what is heading my way? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
