Gerd,

Live in the now.

Flying the real thing must have sucked. Alternately sweating and freezing your *** off, headaches from pressure changes, hoards of Americans like me flying P-51s trying to kill you, Soviets invading your cities and lousy food. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Gerd, I've always thought that we are lucky to live in times of peace (for most of us anyhow) and prosperity (for some of us on a global basis). Obviously, I was wrong and it's much better to have lived in a time when you could die anytime and lose your friends on a daily basis.

But think about it for a minute - can you imagine life without an effective anti-perspirant?

War or anti-perspirant....I know when I'm well off and it's Sure for me every time.

Does anyone have a pic of a dora or 152 in flight? I've go on a crusade every 6 months or so trying to find one but always come up empty handed.

-----------------------------------------------

I wouldn't say I can't stop thinking about her, but since PF came out I'm definatly going through 190 withdrawls. I was lucky enough to find a ETO map on warclouds. I jumped into the cockpit of the 190D and thought, "Finally a real plane."

I was blown away by the climbrate after flying japaneese for so long. I screwed up and got into a low speed turn fight with a spitfire though. I forgot the 190 can't turn, the zero ruined me.

I doubt that you'll find any aerial pics of the D-9 or Ta 152H on the web. There are a few fuzzy pics of an airborn D-9 in the book "Green Hearts, first in combat with the Dora-9". These pics are of very poor quality and they are small. But that is probably the best pics of a D-9 being airborn anyways.

The only pic of a D-9 flying i have seen so far is in John Weal`s Book "FW 190 Aces on the Western Front", page 81, its a fuzzy pic of a "Longnose" passing under a bomber just as it releases it`s bombs (you can see `em next to the Dora).

About the topic: I think it is because of readyng all the stuff that gives us the "romantic" impresion of the war. You think "So what if they were eating potatoes and fought each day just because it was their duty? I would give enything to be in their place!" Well, war WAS/IS/WILL BE HELL, but is uppose this is already known. It is the human nature and the will to discover and experience new feelings, that pushes us towards doing stuff that make no sense. I am far from being a romantic or sentimental person, but each time i read about some assault pilots going through the hell of enemy flack while others are fighting for thier own lives 200m above, to protect them, i just feel the adrenaline rushing through me and wish i could be there, to take part in what would simply mean "kill the other guy before he kills you or your mate". Despite all that i'm a pacifist.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

i like to add to this, war aint glorius but i wish that i could have take part in it, for one thing and that is to have realy done something big in my life, all i do is siting behind my computer the whole day every day, and the people that fought in WWII they fought for their country and for their children and for their future, that is what i want to, i want to be a part of that, so i can feel that i have achieved somethin great in my life, then i could die with good a conscience, i died for the cause and i died for my people and my friends and family, and if i survived the war then i would have a good conscience that i realy did something, no matter what people say about me, couse i fought and i bleed for what i believed in.

Then what are you wating for F0_Dark_P?
You are all talk and no action.
You know, there is a war going on right now (although I must point out that for as long as there are people, there will be terrorists). What I'm trying to point out is that you can fight for your country, your family and friends, fight in honor, by shipping out to IRAQ right now! Fight for the safety of Iraq and the WORLD. So don't just sit behind a computer, get out there and experience new feelings my man!!

The military needs you, so what are you wating for? Sign up at your local recruiting station.

Lets leave it at that and please, by the word of Gotland, do not post any more of your ladies collection. The Maddox community is by far better of that way. uhmm...darn it, you did succeed in engraving Kate's face smack on my temples, ****n you!

Nice one, that is taken at RAF ST Athans in Welsh Wales, the hanger behind it is the museum one that use to house them all and the 2 hangers to the right are the 1 SOTT ( One School of Technical Training ) of which i was an inmate for longer than i care to remember http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I have sat in, climbed over, been on the ground running team and kicked the tyres on that very 190 in my dim and distant past....... Ahhhh ST Athans, the stomping ground of the Rohnda Valley Commandos, never in the history of human conflict has there ever been such a fierce group of civilian women as the Rohnda Valley Commandos, young trainies would go weak at the knees when targeted by one of this select bunch of Welsh tottie, but that's another story http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have found a new friend! Perhaps I've seen you on the streets?

Small world ain't it.

Yes it sure is a small world! I currently live and work in Stockholm. I've been here for about 7 years, and I believe it's time to move back home. But I suppose that wont happen in the near future. My family all live in Gotland, most of them in Visby but I grew up in Rosendal Follingbo were my mother still lives, not too far from the "Follingbo masten". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Personally, I have the hots for that teacher who slept with the 14 year old. Kids do not appreciate how great they have it today.
