LOL!!

I remember back in '01, I when I was waiting to take delivery of a hot new PC, P4, 2.0 ghz, heh, I ordered two games/sims as I waiting delivery; Grand Prix Legends and IL-2. Loved them both, but took the racing route for a while. When I heard about BOB last year, I was psyched for a new air combat sim. I've been checking the forum from time to time to see if there's any progress....Anyway, Did a bit of FSX last year, and with Black Shark coming (DVD version), the combat sim bug bit me in a huge way! I have the original IL-2 disk, but with all the content and enhancements, I ordered 1946 just now for a WHOPPING $12.20! + $4 shipping. What a joke. I have a set of CH rudder pedals I was using with FSX, and ordered a Fighterstick yesterday. Never used rudder pedals in combat. I'm very excited to get back into IL2. VERY excited. Too bad Best Buy, CC, Gamestop and EB didn't have a copy in the store today. I see there have been graphic enhancements since the original. Can't wait to see them! I assume an E6600/8800 GTS 512/2 gig ram should make Il-2 smooth as butter and gorgeous?

Thanks guys. Just wanted to share a little excitement, it being this time of year and all!

Happy Holidays!!

Yes, I'm running it on a nearly identical machine (my 8800GTS has only 320Mb http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif) and it runs good.
(There can still be some moments that bring FPS really down... -flying low over large cities- ... but in general... it runs fine... gorgeous is a word that comes to mind indeed...)

You really do have some catching up to do... with about 10 (can't remember the exact number) flyable a/c in the Original to 200+ in 1946... well ... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif ... that goes for the use of pedals too... skidding/slipping http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ... coordinated turns... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

You might wanna read this: A Nugget's Guide To Getting Off The Ground.. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645)

Happy Holidays right back at ya!

Have Fun!

Maybe not smooth as butter. that all depends on the map & the mission.. but on 90% of whatever yoiu see on Hyperlobby.. it'll look PDG... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks for the welcome FT. I've been reading Nugget's guide...now looking at TrackIR...oy! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Catching up for sure with the planes, but I'm really looking forward to checking out the American and British planes. Go figure.

Good to hear my system should be ok. After running on a P4 2.0, and I think it ran the original pretty well, I figured my current setup would be perfect. I guess I'll just have to settle for PDG and gorgeous! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif
