Actually, none of the Atlantic Ocean would appear on a Murmansk map. Murmansk was one of the most important ports available to the Soviet empire during WWII for the receiving of lend-lease material and foreign aid, hence the need for merchant ships and submarines.

It was quite a perilous journey for the merchantmen, with German surface ships and U-boats stalking the convoys, and German aircraft primarily flying from Norway reporting the convoys' positions and broadcasting it to the attackers, and sometimes attacking themselves.

If you want to learn more about this aspect of the war, a great book is "The Destruction Of Convoy PQ-17" by David Irving. This convoy was one of the ones that was decimated by the German attacks.
