Since it's been some time, since the last driver release, is there any chance we'll see a new set soon, with fixes for SHIII?

For AA, sun flare, uzo, bugs???

Nvidia will probably release some drivers soon. They usually release them every 3 months or so. Dunno if they will fix anything for SH3 though.

Since Nvidia hasn't commented much if not at all on the SH3 bugs, I'm pretty doubtful that they will be addressed at all in the next patch.

Actually, the "Uzo Spray Bug" is listed on their latest driver release as a known issue, so maybe it will be addressed this time around.

Keepin' my fingers and toes crossed, anyway. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I just installed the 77.30 drivers, but haven't tried them with SH3 yet---I could only find them as part of the BF2 demo install.
Let ya know how they perform...

Cool DealScotty...let us know!

Hey couldnt help but notice you have the same eVGA card as I do (6800GT).

Do you have any graphics problems like in this thread 6800GT problems thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2881085392/m/8871079123/p/1) there are screenshots about 1/2 down the threads first page.

I get this wierd graphics corruption in my crew screen if I use Pscope or binocs.

Thanks

The PC wiz kid across the street put it simplistic terminology.
There are 3 approaches to games. 1; build the game to work well on ATI. 2; build the game to work well on NVidea. 3, build it to run mediocre on both. Same holds true for VCs. Example, the 6600 is not as good as the 6800 but many have reported better results in SH3 with the 6600.
This is an over simplification but generalizes the 2 different card camps. Hard core gamers might one day build their PCs to support one from each company and partition or have separate HDs with 2 booting OS to have the best of both VCs.
So far the games I have preferred have worked better on ATI.
Dumb luck wins!!!

If thats the case Wulf (and Im sue it is) then game makers should at LEAST be required to say "This was designed with ATI (or Nvidia)"

Valve did this with HalfLife2. They designed the game with ATI, and have made no bones about it. THe have told the gaming community the game will run better with ATI.

I played HL2 with both my ATI9800Pro and Nvidia 6800GT. Yes HL2 performs slightly better on the older 9800Pro...but at least they at Valve programed the game in such a way the just because you use one type of card it doesnt make the graphics look worse.. and at least Valve(Sierra) made the consumer aware.

Had I know SHIII ran better with ATI I would have bought a X800 series vice 6800 GT

I have noticed this about games, they usually run well on one brand card than the other, ATI usually the better. On the back of my SH3 case it has the nvidia logo/promo/way its meant to be played badge, which either hints at the game being designed more with nvidia in mind, or to simply get a bit of extra cash for ubi by advertising nvidia perhaps?

Faamecanic and tropper, I agree it would be nice if they came clean on which way they went. They don't do it because it detracts from people buying the game just like if they said "SH3 game specs are meant for an AMD FX55 with 2 X 2GB DDR2 RAM and twin X800Pro VC with RAID 2X Raptor HDs at 10K."
How many would they sell?
Most game specs will barely run the game. They have improved on that aspect and now it would be nice if they were stand up regarding which way they designed VC wise.
The whoring game sites could help if they made this aspect of reviewing a main topic like a separate section just to devulge the VC secrets.

I have the 6600GT and it runs the game great except for the water spray thing. It will slow way down for a few seconds. Not a huge deal but I hope they fix it. I have not exsperienced any corruption though. I upgraded to this card recently from a ATI 9600 PRO and so far I have been very happy. It plays all my games smooth as glass except some small issues in SH3.

The 6600 will actually run ATI preferred game better than the 6800 as I have been told (and has been reported on this forum). The 6600 is designed to be middle of the road while the 6800 is better suited in getting the best performance available for games designed for NVidea format, again, as it has been explained to me.
The 9600 and 9700 are not in the 9800 or X800 league. People just think if its a 256MB it must be the same, it most certainly is not!

The fact that the uzo spay bug is present in the game hints to me that they were more aimed at ATI chips than nVidia, also the anti aliasing sun glare issue with nVidia cards also backs this up.
This is only in my opinion though, i own an fx5900 and these bugs can destract from gameplay, nothing major to complain about though.

None of those were ever present with the ATI cards, 9800 or X800SE in my 2 systems.

Also there is a BIG diffence with WAVE reflections between Nvidia and ATI and sHIII.

I have screenies to back it up.... the 9800Pro looked WAY better with reflections.

AGree with you Wulf.... I have YET to see a single online or gaming magazine (I subscribe to three of them) say ANYTHING about this game running better with ATI.

Again I say KUDOS to Valve for at least being honest about HL2 being more suited to ATI.

Its a shame these sort of differences exist, but without major work on the dev's side these differences are inevitable. I havent seen the differences betweem ATI and nVidia reflections, because i only have machines with nVidia chips. Happy enough though I suppose, at least framerates are stable enough http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Dont ever look at an ATI screen shot then trooper http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (with refelctions from buildings and such). You will want to get an ATI card if you do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The game still isnt bad with Nvidia..but sure looked nicer with the ATI. Problem is I like Nvidia better with about 80% of my games.

This reminds me of the old Beta max v. VCR tape battles back in the 80's. No standard format and sooner or latter one or the other will die off.

Hehe I'll take your advice and try to avoid them http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I am definately going with ATI when I am ready for a new video card, will be ready for one soon me thinks.
It would be nice to have anti aliasing on without losing effects and gettin low fps for once, dunno if others experience this with nVidia but it really annoys me that i cant have AA on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

The just released Battlefield 2 demo comes with the nVidia 77.30 drivers.
I haven't played SH3 since the demo was out last friday, so I don't know if the known bugs are fixed.
You guys should at least download the demo and try the latest nvidia drivers. The demo rocks by the way.

Anyone else test these new drivers with SHIII?
