Now guys i just got this great idea xD

Oleg i hope you se this...

And guys dont spam me with things like "play Ms flight simulator if you want things like this etc" , this is a good idea i think http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif couse this is great if you want change from all those dogfights etc

Anyway to my concept, You are a "necessity pilot", you fly stuff, ammo and food, with your DC3 or your country's equival airplane, and drop those things to your troops and civilians on the ground

This you will do on a varity of missions in a campain or single mission, or maybe with a good friend online

So guys could this not be a good addon to il2, just to do something else than dogfighting and bombing? for a change

Now i just hope you guys and Oleg can read my crapy english

man!, i just love this über idea of mine http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

cheers!

This idea has been mentioned before, and it's a great idea, to be able to fly a Ju-52, or Li-2, or C-47, or whatever.

But there is no way we will be able to get someone to model the cockpit, then get it to Oleg for them to program it in to the sim. It's far too late to consider doing this now.

yes i know http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif it wont happen, pity il2 dont suport mods, if i could and if il2 was mod friendly i would have started the work right away

but jet.. BoB aint released, there is hope for the future http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Enemy troops have needs and you will deliver the 'neccessity' bombs.

Need to fly Ju52 brothel missions in BoB, fly prostitues to every LW airfield before missions to increase morale. Poor brits won't know what hit em.

I've always thought this and recon were needed.

Imagine a massive free reign online campaign. You have to make sure all your bases are supplied, with ammo, pilots, fuel, etc ... Also need to ferry in new planes when the old ones are lost.

Medium bombers would have a purpose now. Bombing factories would hurt the supply so you may need to bring supplies from the back to the front lines. Before the strike, you could fly a recon mission and scope out the enemy's forces and targets. If you make it back alive, the bomber crews would have detailed information on the target.

I believe that there are a lot of people that would enjoy a more strategic aspect to online play to what we have now. However, this is a flight sim and not an RTS.

Yes! Would be awesome if gameplay could be somewhat like that!!

I just wish the sounds could be open to mods.

Fly WW2:OL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Seriously good fun.. you can fly a Ju-52 loaded with human paratroopers and drop them over occupied territory.. maybe the best simming experience ever.
In WW2OL you often find yourself flying for the sake of flying, not merely to get in a turn and burn dogfight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Being able to designate map objects like houses or tents as ammo dumps would be good
for mission goals.

Perhaps somewhere in the BoB series there could be gliders and tow planes. I know that
US had them and pretty sure that Germany had them first. If they did, then Crete would
see them... what a map that would be!

The German Luftwaffe used gliders first. On 10th May 1940 german paratroopers landed with DFS 230 gliders in Belgium and conquered the fortress of Eben Emael

these elements already exist in the game and are used extensively in the Bellum War which uses an amazing custom made war engine called 'badc'. check it out. resupply, supply zones, etc.. all incorporated. very immersive and fun to play online. I think Czech war uses that engine.

Wow I never new. I checked it out and this engine does just about anything I could dream of. I found that the Scorched Earth engine is pretty good too.

@Jetbuff: I must be pretty dense today, but I can't for the life of me get the punchline.

I would love to fly C-47s and Ju-52s on supply missions online. I'm not a great combat pilot, and evading fighters in a large slow aircraft is a more interesting challenge!

The TB-3 was used for supply missions, I hear - or a varient of it. That would be a good start.

For BadC (ie Bellum or Czech War), planes that can be used for human resupply are:

Axis: He111
Allied (depending on time frame): TB3, B25

they put a restriction on the rules in that planes must go 100% fuel, clean load out. To simulate the actual resupply, you have to fly w/in a certain radius of the city, pop smoke three times and then safely land your plane. There's even recon missions that can be flown. Shame the game didn't ship with these sorts of options built in. maybe the next dynamic campaign generator will include all sorts of stuff not currently imagined to make things more immersive.

I wanted to do this with the Fi-156 Storch.

Scorched Earth is great for this type of stuff, theres planning required prior to missions, recon to be flown, there are resources and replacements.
SE goes quite a bit further than Bellum Wars and Czech wars from what Ive seen although these are excellent set ups as well.
