Hello folks!

This topic is about a curiosity from my part. Do you know any girl that fly in IL2 and thefore likely enjoy military aviation or, if you are yourself one, can you share your experiences with us?

You obviously haven't encountered some of the more obvious women in the community or recognised that some of the meanest killers out there are women. DO NOT let your preconceptions of the "gentler" sex give you any ideas about women not being aggresive and superbly competent combat pilots.

Hmm I've had the privelege of fighting and flying with the few women flyers in the game.

This all started with >>>SarahZoom>>>> with whom taught me everything when I was a noob and then Miss Strega who showed me the secrets of the P-51 among other things and then ***** Galore (deadly in her Zero) and Olga (the deadly Eastern theatre flyer) and KRAS (the energy fighter) plus Ladyhawk (expert to fight in her corsair) just to mention the few and of course Billfish! (whom you don't want to meet and fight in any COOP!)

They're a dangerous bunch! And would shoot most of the men down in HL down easily! These women have told me that yeah some guys do harrass them and some even behave like they're the first women they ever saw in their life! This is why other women do not have gender-based tags/names. I am sure there are alot more women in HL and there are easter european women as well as european women flyers online as well with their names under their own language/culture so it would be difficult to spot.

There is a woman whose Hyperlobby name is HD_Sarah or Sarah_Zoom. She is currently inactive but she was evaluated for the Masters List by seven different players and found to be a bada$$. She runs rings around most guys in her I-185 and she does it on closed pit too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have not talked to her but others have, and confirmed she is in fact a lady. I dont know why she is inactive now,.... maybe she got tired of shooting down dudes with small weenies http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

but I want let clear that this topic is intended just for research purposes. many whomens don't expose themselfs in a premoninant male enviorement because there are so much mans that one of the first things they think is try became their girlfriends and husbands. those guys just don't have any respect with a ladie and just because they saw one already start to do this. they are far more worst like wild animals I would say, because they can raciocinet and still do this. so sad thing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

this is an example of a Japanese whomen with a awesome talent with musical instruments that post her covers mainly heavy metal ones in Youtube. she is the most subscriber Youtube user in Japan. unfortinetely that the same happen. this video was flaged because in many times people don't have any respect with she and post vulgar terms about it in the comments. and there are many ones that keep saying that she is a man. I personally don't think she is a man, and those guys say that because they seems to cannot accept that a girl can be better then them. but just my personal opinion. I don't know any girl like that. and with all respect, would be interesting know girls that like military aviation. if you are a girl and are reading this, would envite you to share your personal likes with us. I would garantee that you going to be totally respected. just for talk abour this, not for a especific reasons to know whomens really for me, but if anyone want to talk anything about this subject would be interesting to break some ice.

Man I'm all for women being strong and taking on traditional "man" roles.

Shoot, my old lady is outside mowing the lawn right now!
I support her in all her endeavors, heck I even bought her a new mower last year, a Toro.
Yeah I know; I spoil the heck out of 'er!

I have come across several women who enjoy this sim. It has been a while so I don't recall any names.
It is a refreshing change to hear a lady's voice over comms when on a server.

My guess is that 25% of the IL-2 flying public out there is female. In the online arena some choose to reveal that they are women and some don't. I don't blame the ones that don't...lots of STUPID things get said when they do. It also seems that many of the women who do play the game are quite talented as well which does tend to enhance their reputations and sometimes creates a bit of a spectacle.

I say anyone who is interested in IL-2 should play...regardless of gender. Clearly its not a male only hobby...although it does tend to be dominated by us.

blairgowrie

Don't think it is as high as 25% VW-IceFire.

I would think it is likely less than 5%.

We have a lady pilot in the Tigersquadron ranks, TS_Sassy. She's slumming it over in the Fighter Ace community as of late but has been doing the WW2 fighter thing for going on 10 years that I know of.

I've met a half dozen sim pilots of the female persuasion in my time online, as previously stated most (with one notable exception) dont advertise their gender. Boy or girl has no bearing on the task at hand other than to clog the chatbar with non stop queries such as " are you really a girl?" so most women who participate in male dominated venues such as IL2 quickly learn to blend in.

Danjama, be careful what you wish for. One of these days we'll bump into each other on teamspeak and I'll share a true story with you all about gamers, girlfriends and why they dont mix. Guaranteed to be a good laugh.

LOL.

Never think women are `better` just because they`re not into shooting or blowing up things. They have their own (arguably) meaner ways to make you suffer and, as Dux says, for even longer.

I only played a game as a team with a woman once. this was when I was trying guild wars with some friends. We had a husbad and wife team join us.

She annoyed the hell outta me cos she just seemed to want to know our entire life history. What our names were, what job we did, what colour our eyes were. I just wanted to get on with the game.

The game was crap and I never stuck with it, so never really got to fight anything much with her.

I`d be interested to see how a woman would affect things in our squad (or any teamspeak IL2 co op) in IL2. I`m sure there are some that would fly and fight and comms adroitly. However, I`ll bet the atmosphere would be different as men always act differently when they know a female`s around, no matter how much they say they don`t.

I sometimes wonder if I`ll bump into Billfish oneday and really see how she is on comms and in a dogfight. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

At first the addition of an honest to goodness girl on coms had a huge wet blanket effect on the content and tone of our conversations. After the novelty passed a couple of the guys were resentful of the sudden imposition of manners and vowed to carry on as usual (she knew she was joining a squad of guys, stuff like that). Keep in mind the girl in question was raised in the south eastern U.S. and conducts herself in a dignified and respectable manner so the "I'm going to be crude because I can" fell pretty flat on everyone else with one exception. One of our squaddies was resentful of her presence because he felt he had joined a boys club where he could behave like it was a highschool gym class and there was just no room for a girl. After a couple months went by everbody got used to everbody and things returned to normal.
There's fewer F-bombs when she's on coms, the racier postings on our squad newsgroup have a content warning coverpage now, other than that its business as usual.

That sounds very honest. I think a woman will have to accept that if she walks into a bloke`s `area` then she`s gotta accept the status quo. If she steps in expecting everyone to change feminist-style then I could see a lot opf annoyed blokes. We DO need our little gentlemen`s hideaway and if a woman walks in she needs to respect it, just as women have their hideaway areas and don`t want any men in there.

Thanks for the info.

~S~, Ladies and Gentlemen...

Actually, I have the honor to be the CO of the Hell's Devils, and Sarah is flying with us as a full member.
It's true she's quite inactive lately, due to RL issues.
I can confirm she's a Lady, and a hell of a combat pilot. She's American, living in Honolulu, Hawaii. I know her full name and family name.

And Sarah is not the only Lady in our Squadron. My Wife Lara is an active member, too, and she's a dangerous opponent, expecially when in the right mood...

I know other female pilots that are enriching our Community at HyperLobby, Ladies like Miss Strega, LadyHawk from the Birds Of Prey Squad and =21=Ladyhawk, a very nice French female pilot.
And for sure there are many others...

Cheers

When I started to playing this game (in 2005) I was flying a yak3.
It is a beautiful and dangerous plane, even if you don't have skills -good choice for a noob (like the spitfire, for example, or a zero)
I was able to shoot down almost everybody, and I thought I'm a very good pilot (baaah)
But one day I was shot down by a fw 190
Previously I hated the fw190 because it can't turn, I can't see nothing from it's cockpit, but it's aileron is very sensitive. But this pilot always shot me and he was really a focke expert...
So as it turned out later, this pilot is a lady, younger than me and very dangerous with her d9
Her name is LW_KRASNAJA, and she is from Slovenia
unfortunately she is inactive now (I think)
this was the reason why I started to learn how to handle the fw-s and left those noob planes, yaks and others..
Today I usually fly fockes and other complex and unpopular planes
I respect those pilots who can fly and win with those planes...

Believe it or not, there's an "Secret" women squadron for IL-2.They're representing the IAP 108(180???) or what was it,representing the WW2 russian women squadron, which was known among the german pilots as the "Red nosed witches" or something, because their Yak-9's were with red painted nose.
And to tell you...I met them once in Airforce War...They raped me and my Butcherbird! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Their prefix is the same as the squadron they're representing.

Hahaha, yeah LW_KRASNAJA, I remember her well. I had flown against her a few times (it was on Ubi not the lobby, years ago. I managed to beat her but she damaged me severely once, she was very good. I naturally assumed she was a bloke (like most) and said "Great fight mate", she replied with a terse "I am not a Man. I am a Girl." Zoikes!! That was me told hehehe. She had a woman pilot skin with flame red hair, no idea if it was actually her or not.

But yeah, she could fly all right, no mistake.

folks, I know very few about the use of female aviators by the USSR during the cold war.

but a member of a military aviation forum told me many things about it. that they are, for example, enterly female bomber crews. he also told me that a Canadian pilot follow (I know the correct word but don't know how to write it in English, sorry) a formation of 3 TU-95's close to the Canadian coast. it was everything ok, until that in the free frequency he realised that the lead bomber's command had a female voice, witch surprise him. he told me that even after the cold war the pilot and the female pilot had meet in a event to promote piece.

told me also that they where high rank womens in the VVS, some totally like elite male pilot's, with more then 3000 hours of fligth in figthers.

I search on the internet for informations about this, but google is not my friend. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I trusth on him, he is not my friend but is friend of many friends of mine, and the guy is a marine, so I don't think he was not telling the truth.

but just for confirmation folks, I'm not surprise as I NEVER have any kind of discrimination for females in ANYTHING. I think I would offend him if he had see I ask this, but this was in fact truth?

I think it's pretty offensive use this term of question for females, but anyway, I just are in doubt because I never heard anything about this.

During WWII the Soviets had women in numerous roles in the military including combat pilots. Look up Lilya Litvyak who was part of a number of all women combat units. Lilya was an ace flying Yak fighters. There are other names I can't remember. I think there was an all women Pe-2 dive bomber regiment as well.

you guys are cracking me up. its true though, details and memories are held forever . . . and some ladies can hold grudges (not me).

My ex got me into this (ww2 aviation). He was really passionate about it, but not to where it would get in the way of time spent with me.

We went on a aerobatic flight (his flight instructor flying) and I was so thrilled. One day I'll get $$ for lessons.

But actually it started in elementary. I remember the boys were throwing strawberries at us. And there was this one boy, lots of people picked on him because he would run with his arms out and make noises that later I would realize were doppler engine passes and machine guns. And he couldn't catch a baseball either.

So on that day he was the only boy pelted with strawberries and he said "They don't like me because I ate their ammo."

I didn't like talking to him. All he would talk about is rockets, planes, robots . . . how the Japanese Zero would fly in rings and the Wildcats had to gang up on them . . . big friends and little friends LOL. But I remember him saying "girls can fly too." and he told me about Amelia. SUper articulate.

I changed schools next grade and wonder what happened to him. But not enough to do find your old friends type of search on him.

But everytime I heared or my dad would play his VHS tapes of Blacksheep squadron I'd remember that boy and eating ammo . . .

And highschool / college I did read some books.

IL-2 is like driving fast. I just get this big grin when diving down on a enemy ace bomber with the 30mm nose cannon. Too bad the 109 is a one hit wonder once ace AI gets a hit on you.

I like reading about pilots but I can't stand it if the writing isn't that good.

But I suck at IL-2, mainly because I keep thinking too much or second guessing. I'm not on the aggressive mindset.

Dance Dance Revolution, now that's a different story http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Online I like it better anonymous. I use the ex's accounts that he doesn't use.

Right now I frequent servers that don't need teamspeak (insert airquake here). Plus the ex got headset. And I'm getting Track IR first.

I'm just tired from World of Warcraft or other MMO's, where once most found out, some would message me endless. Or go to extra lengths to teabag me in PVP (player vs player) even if it cost them severely.

Teabag is a macro that rapidly causes your char to squat and stand. Used to desecrate corpses of fallen enemies.

OR

Or I'd get freebies and hookups etc . . . weird.
In PVP I had this little army of people following me around it was funny. Felt Joan of Arc ish . . .

I just like to be with my friends and not be bothered.

The craziest was this lesbian from one of the top west coast WOW guilds. A very good stalker. She would be perfect in a FW190 and tracking someone to kill them. Anyways.

Interesting . . . Thanks for the link!!

I heard of only the Russians and US had women pilots in WW 2, next we'll hear about Japanese and British having them also.

Checked the link for Hanna, and said another lady got an Iron Cross.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melitta_Schiller

This lady also got a Iron Cross, different class, and she's Jewish LOL.

What was really cool is there is 7 degrees to Tom Cruise!! (read the wiki on her)

Also, she did some piloting and got combat exposure.

Yes serveral women got the iron cross but second class, Hanna Reitsch was the only one to get the iron cross first class.
Many of the women who got the iron cross second class where nurses doing their duty at the very front. Also several women flew transports or transfer flights. It is little known as there are hardly any modern publications, only original material, so it takes a bit of digging.
Another well known German female pilot is Beate Uhse, although she is more known for her business she had after the war in Germany. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beate_Uhse

What makes Hanna Reitsch special ist that she tested a lot of the late war planes, especially the jets and the rocket plane Me163 also the Me 262. She was the first women to fly a jet.

Havent looked at the wiki article so not sure if this is old news, but Fraulein Reitsch was very keen on setting up a German suicide squadron similar to the Japanese kamikazes with the the aim of brining down US bombers. The idea didnt go down too well with the Luftwaffe but she apparently volunteered to carry out the first swuicide mission.

I came here to read the news about the SOW update, but I seen this thread and would like to add the following http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif...

I am Yum_Yum (a female) who has been flying Focke Wulf 190's in this game very regularly since at least 2003.
I use the following servers, UK dedicated War Clouds, Wings Over Europe, FSNF-DF-Server, and maybe 1 or 2 others.

My own Claims to fame are that I was part of a team which helped UK Dedicated servers win the "Server Wars" competition, I flew the Focke Wulf 190 to help the player Mysticpuma make the movie "NOT MY TIME TO DIE", I also participated in the "INTERNATIONAL ONLINE COMPETITION, I would have also participated in anual TIGER MEETS if I did'nt have to take my PC with me !!!
Autographs later please http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

In the past I found this game to be very male dominated, most male players refusing to believe that female players were playing and thought they were males pretending to be females !!!. It was from that moment that I decided not to disclose that I was a female player, play only by chat, and play quietly without dissclosing or sharing information such as enemy contacts etc etc.

Some of the odd things I have read in the chatbox ..
After damaging a P51 (it was smoking after my attack) ..the player typed "come back and fight like a man" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
I overshot a spitfire which I had tryed to attack and kept my speed high in order to outrun it, the spitfire followed and typed "don't run like a girl" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif... after I realised the spitfire burned out it's engine I turned back towards it and shot it down, the player then typed "loser" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I had alway kept my identity secret ... until CrazyIvan (forum moderator) found out I was female and let everyone know. I then left these forums seeking a place where no one know I was female, and a place in which I could start again, Warclouds http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Very nice to find someone like you, Yum_Yum!

Guess I understand your feelings about not reveal your identity.

I found play with girls very nice. As fly with a female pilot is always a unique experience. Altough I hate the childish behavior that a lot of male players have regarded to fly with girls.

You know, stupid actions like, because they know you're a girl, they're all would try give you especial cover. Sometimes at point to ruin the whole team effectiveness. Also, absurd insistently to try become your friends, ask to join their squadrons, etc.

I love play with girls, but this ridiculous common behavior used to driving me nuts. It's a member of our team, and we are a team. A squadron should have equal teamwork among the pilot's. Unless you're the leader, of course. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Happens in all areas. For example, I play RPG, and when I go to RPG conventions it's very rare not see this kind of behavior. Male players clearly given privileges (sometimes at absurd points) to females characters.

Of course this not occur in all servers. And if that's the case admins are just there for enforced basic respect rules.

But always keep flying Yum_Yum. You should nevermore hide you're a girl. And should be very pround for that.

Congratulations!

The women who fly this sim online, fly predominantly on servers where there are crutches like outside views and icons, I guess they need them to I.D. aircraft, and to look around the server to see where their opponents are.

Maybe they lack the cognitive ability to I.D. aircraft by shape, and maybe they lack the reasoning ability that would let them find prey without being shown where it is with outside views?

When you can show me a chick that can get to the top of the stats on a server with hard-settings I will give them a pat on the back, but it ain't happened......

I flew on the DOLT SarahZooms server before years ago, she said I must be cheating because I was shooting her and everyone else down without her obligatory I-185/La-7/etc., I told her my cheat was: BRAINS. Which unfortunately she could not download and install......

Or maybe they shoot you down all the time, but would rather not have to put up with getting this sort of nonsense if they were to reveal it to you. I doubt very much they'd want a pat on the back anyway.

Just because someone can use words like 'cognative ability' doesn't indicate any real use of it, as you have just illustrated. If you were to base your arguments on scientific evidence rather than uniformed bigotry it might be worth debating, but I somewhat doubt if you are capable of that.

And BTW, there has already been much discussion in this thread on female real-world pilots: what 'cognative ability' is it that you think they lack?

Though a joke I will say this....

I cannot count the number of men that become furious when I shoot them down. Some even holding it as a grudge so long they utilize the F2+F6 cheat and make it a point to hunt me specifically EVERY mission they fly with me from there on out, that by their own admission.

In kind after a fight the comments win or lose are often very negative to nasty ranging from excuses to any loss, to even being called names as vulgar as f*cking c*nt and so on, and on wins stating all they can to slam me no matter how tore up they and their buddies are after a long fight.

That's okay though......as some males I guess judge their masculinity by a game.....It's good to be the Boss "Bull-cow" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

"feminine" IL2 public? Are there poofta's buzzing around the virtual skies or something?

From the gist of this thread, I take it you mean females - the words are related, but the connotations of the former are quite different these days. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Probably, though I doubt very much they would let on if they are. Anyone else we haven't insulted in this topic?

BTW, quite a few 'pooftas' served with the forces during WW2. Along with women, ethnic minorities, illegal immigrants, commies, vegetarians, sandal-wearing god-botherers, people with ginger hair, teetotallers, alcoholics and people who actually know the meaning of the word 'feminine'.

I don't know what well happened to me when wrote that.

All that post was a big mistake of mine. It was really exaggerated. But I already raise the white flag guys. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

As if the commie avatar wasn't a dead giveaway. You leftists are damned annoying, and SO easy to spin up.

Feminine does NOT mean "female", it means female-like - ie, a person who IS or ACTS or APPEARS feminine - that COULD be a female, or just as likely it could be a male.

Put the Marx down and go get some salve for where it hurts, ya daft prancer.

Chambers 20th Century Dictionary:

feminine female: characteristic of, peculiar or appropriate to, women or the female sex: womanish...

you rightists are so damned illiterate, and so easy to provoke into showing it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Amongst other things, 'feminine' DOES mean 'female' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Put the Daily Mail down and get some cream for your piles, ya daft troll. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Try again commie.

characteristic of or appropriate or unique to women <feminine beauty> <a feminine perspective>

of, relating to, or constituting the gender that ordinarily includes most words or grammatical forms referring to females <a feminine noun> [ie, a characteristic

being an unstressed and usually hypermetric final syllable <a feminine ending> b of rhyme : having an unstressed final syllable c : having the final chord occurring on a weak beat <music in feminine cadences> [ie, a characteristic

CHARACTERISTIC. Which is how a male can be feminine, or a female can be masculine.

So typical of you lot to ignore reality and go for some extreme and uncommon stance just because you're too mentally weak to deal with it (better for you to enfore "political correctness" on everyone http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif ).

1 out of 4 doesn't cut it - particularly when it runs counter to the real worlds common usage.

Not that a leftist can actually be expected to BE literate or understand such things, just easier to lob those comments at everyone who *doesn't* have a hurtin' panuch. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

Neither can I and guess that's true for most il-2 veterans around here.
